We recently connected with Elisa Smit and have shared our conversation below.
Elisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started my entertainment career with P&O cruise ferries in the UK, where I hosted a kids’ club and performed as a costumed character while sailing to France and Belgium. From there, I moved to Spain and Tenerife in the Canary Islands, where I worked in hotel resorts, compering live cabaret acts and hosting fun game shows on stage. One of the highlights of my entertainment career was working as a Christmas storyteller at a log cabin resort in Lapland, Finland, where I provided children with a “North Pole Experience.” These diverse experiences played a significant role in shaping my skills and contributing to the entertainer I am today.
The process requires patience, as you gradually identify what works for you and resonates with your audience while organizing shows and events. Not every approach will be effective, so you will need to adapt and modify your performances based on the audience. This adaptability is developed through experience and confidence. It takes time to reach a point where you can effectively manage any unexpected challenges or surprises that may occur during a performance.
Over the years, I have also trained individuals to become children’s entertainers. However, I believe it’s more advantageous for them to create their own shows that reflect their unique personalities and the characters they connect with. It’s important to explore what style of children’s entertainment you want to provide and to find props, costumes, and themes that resonate with you as both a person and performer. Building confidence is crucial, so I recommend practicing with children you know and offering free parties or events. This experience will help you refine your craft, boost your confidence, and discover what truly excites you when performing in front of an audience.

Elisa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I take pride in my 25 years in the entertainment industry, where I have had the opportunity to perform and entertain children and also young adults with special needs. Starting in London, I entertained throughout the UK before relocating to Perth, Western Australia, and, most recently, introducing my entertainment services to the children and families of Las Vegas a year and a half ago.
My greatest achievement has been doing what I love while bringing joy to communities and children around the world. My aim is to spread happiness through music and dance to children of all ages and abilities, and I welcome adults to join in and connect with their children through my music and dance program and party entertainment.
It is particularly rewarding to see children bonding and enjoying time with their parents during my classes and events.
I primarily conduct music and dance-themed classes and parties at local venues such as libraries, farms, schools, daycares, indoor playgrounds, parks, cafes and pretty much anywhere there are kids and a space for them to dance!
Additionally, I host very funky and high energy glow discos which is definitely one of my favorite events to hosts. I also set up my own themed events where parents or caregivers can purchase a ticket and be guaranteed their child will be entertained for 1-1,5 hours of non-stop exciting entertainment plus crafts too.
I am excited and proud to be offering children’s entertainment like no other in Las Vegas and hope to have the opportunity to dazzle the children at many more events with my interactive, unique and dynamic entertainment.
My entertainment is high energy, lots of fun for all ages (even the grown-ups) and filled with back-to-back-non-stop singing, dancing, party games, funky dance props, musical instruments, puppets, LED glow props, wacky dress-ups, bubbles and more.
My passion for entertaining children and creating unforgettable experiences is my number one priority. It is my sincere hope that every party and event I host reflects this passion and leaves a lasting impression on both the children and adults.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During my journey to build experience and confidence as a performer, I often worked overseas in resorts, on ships, and in hotels. One challenge I faced was dealing with the judgments from other workers, who often had misconceptions about entertainers and performers. This led to me being evaluated based on their preconceived notions rather than my actual abilities. While I was trying to adapt to new environments and demonstrate my work ethic, I also felt the need to prove myself as an individual. It was important for me to show others that we shouldn’t judge people solely based on their professions, as everyone has their own unique qualities and experiences.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a performing artist and entertainer is the joy it brings to both children and their parents. It’s particularly gratifying to witness shy children coming out of their shell and enjoying themselves through music and dance and my classes and entertainment. Often parents contact me and tell me how much their child enjoyed my class or entertainment and/or sing my songs at home. It feels massively rewarding to know I can have this sort of impact on such young children’s lives and help them to develop and grow through my entertainment.
I have included info about my upcoming events.
