We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elio Borjas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elio below.
Elio, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
As everything good requieres time, it began with the contemplation of the spectacles of sunrises and sunsets, then that led me to try to give perpetuity to those moments and for that I needed a tool. It was none other than my small Kodak camera. It was a challenge for me, since every day I aimed capture more beauty in each of my photographs, then over the years my interest in always having ART present blossomed. It was not only about demonstrating beauty anymore, but also trying to put my works in a different plane, with more substance and depth. For that it was necessary to learn techniques, and even more relevant than that, it was to constantly cultivate and develop my education, visual talent, composition, mood, precise moments, and clearly define what I want to evoke.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am truly passionate about photography. This began when I was very young and arose spontaneously. It grew and developed in a self-taught manner. This has led me to learn about nature and respect it. A lot of times it does not show itself easily. It is there where patience is present, and in the end it generally allows me to capture that special and ephemeral moment.
When creating my works, I seek to interpret reality and ensure that within that frame the elements coexist harmoniously in a balanced way and thus create an atmosphere of peace, pleasure and relaxation.
Therein, the chaos of everyday life is completely absent and with the first glance I invite the viewer to intuitively reach the imaginary thread that leads them to discover a story and leading them towards the final destination that as an author I seek to subtly express.
Many times after seeing a place, my thoughts begin to structure and compose a photograph. It usually takes months, weeks, days or hours, but it can also happen that improvisation appears suddenly and strikingly, that is when the right moment arises and my camera takes a shot or a surprise arises. A unique, magical, beautiful and unrepeatable scene worthy of being captured and exhibited.
Elements such as intuition, inspiration, experience, passion, vocation, necessity and why not even luck will always be present in a unique and great artistic work.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
At first the search for what you want becomes a little uncertain but we have a very important element which is INTUITION. I consider that there is the key. Perhaps something I am proud of is offering a refuge of peace, calm and relaxation for those who contemplate one of my works on display, whether hanging on the wall of their home, office or displayed in one of the galleries where they are exhibited. some of them.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There is always something or someone that motivates us and what inspires me in the first place is NATURE; however, within the arts, the impressionism of the painter Claude Monet, the management of light in his paintings by the master Armando Reveron, the photographers Joseff Koudelca for its authenticity, Fan Ho its aesthetics, Henry Cartier Bresson the management of the opportunity and geometry of his photos, Richard Avendon innovation of movement and Sergio Larrain for the masterful management of his sincere proposal of photographic composition.
