From the moment crayons touched paper in my childhood, I embarked on a journey fueled by creativity and expression. Art has been a constant companion, whispering inspiration and igniting my imagination since I can remember. Growing up, I found solace and joy in sketching, painting, and exploring various artistic mediums. It was through these endeavors that I discovered the power of visual storytelling and the profound impact design could have on shaping perspectives and evoking emotions.

As I transitioned into adulthood, my passion for art only intensified, guiding me towards a professional path in the creative realm. The decision to pursue a career in graphic design was a natural progression, as it allowed me to merge my love for art with my fascination for problem-solving and communication. Throughout my academic journey at Ringling College of Art and Design, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, I immersed myself in the world of illustrations and design, constantly seeking innovative ways to convey complex ideas and narratives.

Today, as a recent graduate, I am eager to continue exploring the boundless possibilities of design, using it as a tool to amplify voices, provoke thought, and inspire change. Greetings! My name is Elijah Nuriddin, hailing from the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My journey into the world of graphic design and illustration began long before I even realized it. From doodling in the margins of my notebooks to meticulously crafting digital designs, art has always been an intrinsic part of my life’s tapestry.

My pursuit of mastering this craft led me to Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where I honed my skills and earned a BFA in Graphic Design. Throughout my academic tenure, I delved deep into various facets of design, from conceptualizing logos and editorial layouts to crafting captivating apparel designs and intricate typefaces. As a graphic designer, my aim is not just to create visually stunning works but to solve problems for my clients, offering them solutions that blend creativity with functionality seamlessly.

In tandem with my graphic design endeavors, my passion for illustration has blossomed into a flourishing aspect of my career. I specialize in bringing characters from the vast landscape of media to life, whether it be through vibrant prints, whimsical stickers, or charming bookmarks. However, what truly sets me apart in this competitive landscape is my unwavering commitment to selflessness.

Growing up, I imbibed the values of kindness and generosity, which have become the cornerstone of my approach to both life and work. Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

My journey as a creative individual has been marked by moments of both triumph and adversity, but perhaps none more defining than the decision to switch majors at the end of my freshman year. Initially enrolled in the Motion Design program, I was optimistic and enthusiastic about the path ahead. However, as the semester progressed, I encountered unforeseen challenges that threatened to derail my aspirations.

Struggling to grasp the intricacies of the software required for Motion Design, I found myself on the brink of failure. The realization that I was at risk of failing out of the major hit me like a tidal wave, leaving me feeling lost and defeated. It was a dark and uncertain moment, one filled with doubt and self-questioning.

Yet, in the midst of adversity, I discovered a reservoir of resilience that I never knew existed within me. Instead of succumbing to despair, I made the courageous decision to pivot and explore other avenues within the realm of design. With unwavering determination and an open mind, I embarked on a new path, transitioning into the Graphic Design program.

This decision was not without its challenges. It required humility to acknowledge my shortcomings, courage to step into the unknown, and perseverance to navigate the unfamiliar terrain ahead. Yet, with each obstacle encountered, I refused to be deterred. Instead, I approached every setback as an opportunity for growth and learning, channeling my setbacks into fuel for my determination.

The transition to Graphic Design proved to be a transformative experience. Finally, I found myself in a place where my passions aligned with my skills, where creativity flourished, and where I felt a profound sense of belonging. What initially seemed like a setback turned out to be a pivotal moment of self-discovery and reinvention.

Looking back, I am grateful for the challenges that led me to this point.
