Alright, Elijah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

In 2018, I resided with my mother when she commented on my creativity and suggested starting a business. At the time, I lacked knowledge on how to initiate a business venture or what I should specialize in. I also felt purposeless which prompted my mother’s encouragement. A few days later, we discussed potential business names, but none resonated with us. I suggested names like ‘The Prophet,’ ‘Prophets,’ and ‘Spiritual Clothing,’ but they didn’t quite capture our vision. During the conversation, my mother proposed ‘Prophetboy,’ which initially seemed interesting but not definitive. After some time, we agreed on the name ‘Prophetboy’ and officially registered it as our business. The choice was influenced by my name, Elijah, which is associated with ‘The Prophet’ in the Bible, creating a meaningful connection. From 2018 to 2020, Prophetboy operated as a streetwear brand. In 2019, during a Thanksgiving party, I showcased my freestyle skills, astonishing my mother. Encouraged by her, I gained confidence and decided to release music under the artist name ‘Prophetboy.’ In 2020, I released my first music video and song, followed by an EP and numerous singles. Meanwhile, the clothing brand has continued to evolve, focusing on self-expression and embracing one’s authentic self. The slogan ‘Be Your Way’ reflects our belief in empowering individuals to be the best versions of themselves in their own unique stories. “At this juncture in the development of the ‘Prophetboy’ business, I am immensely grateful for the exceptional team that surrounds me, providing unwavering support in propelling a movement I firmly believe has the power to profoundly impact society. My music, characterized by its cleanliness, motivational essence, and high vibrational frequency, aligns seamlessly with the ethos of the ‘Prophetboy’ brand. In many ways, I embody the ‘Prophetboy’ lifestyle, which further reinforces this synchronicity. Expanding beyond music, I am venturing into the realm of podcasting alongside my mother, delving deeper into the thought-provoking messages embedded within the fabric of ‘Prophetboy.’ Enthusiasm permeates my being as I wholeheartedly embrace the promise of a remarkable future for ‘Prophetboy’.”

I hold a profound conviction in the potential for each and every one of us to forge our own path towards success. The uniqueness that resides within every individual is a remarkable attribute, one that merits exploration and cultivation. Drawing from my deeply ingrained spirituality and the awareness instilled in me from a young age, the ‘Prophetboy’ brand emerges as a natural extension of my personal journey. It serves as a conduit for those who seek a connection with their truest selves, enabling them to navigate the intricacies of their own narratives. ‘Prophetboy’ music, with its uplifting, enjoyable, and positive qualities, forms an integral part of this overarching mission. To undertake the journey of entrepreneurship as a black male is a source of immense pride for me. Owning a business as a minority represents a profound blessing, underscoring the immense value of what ‘Prophetboy’ signifies and advocates for. ‘Prophetboy’ is not affiliated with any specific religious denomination, but rather embraces a spiritual ethos that is inclusive and universal, transcending boundaries and resonating with all.”

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

When it comes to amassing the necessary capital to commence a business endeavor, it is worth noting the rather intriguing manner in which my mother and I initiated the establishment of “Prophetboy.” Contrary to conventional expectations, we found ourselves without substantial financial resources at our disposal. Nevertheless, this did not dampen our determination to embark on this entrepreneurial pursuit. It is crucial for individuals to comprehend that it is not imperative to possess vast fortunes or an abundance of capital in order to breathe life into their aspirations. As the years have transpired, the value of my brand has escalated, prompting the infusion of capital from a diverse array of sources. Indeed, it is my firm conviction that ideas possess the potential to transcend monetary considerations. However, it is important to recognize that an idea, in and of itself, holds no value unless it is transformed into tangible reality through meticulous execution and implementation.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

One of the valuable lessons I have gleaned from the journey of Prophetboy revolves around embracing the ebbs and flows of the business landscape. Throughout this voyage, I have encountered instances where I made personal investments in the business, only to witness no immediate returns. There were times when my merchandise failed to garner significant interest, causing doubts to surface regarding its long-term viability and appeal. Yet, amidst these challenges, I steadfastly maintained my faith. In doing so, the universe has graciously presented me with fortuitous signs, affirming the immense potential harbored by Prophetboy. In the realm of business, it is imperative to cultivate adaptability and resilience, recognizing that not every moment will be characterized by perfection and not every decision will yield the desired outcome. However, as long as one perseveres, refusing to succumb to adversity, the fruits of their labor shall eventually manifest, rewarding their unwavering dedication.
