Honestly, my cookie business means a lot more to me than just selling sweets. I started it because I wanted to prove to myself that I could actually build something — even if I’m young, even if I don’t have everything figured out yet.

I didn’t wait for the “perfect time” or some big plan. I just started with what I had: a passion for baking, a few ingredients, and a vision in my head. Every cookie I make is a piece of that dream. It’s me saying, “Look what I can do when I bet on myself.”

Hey! I’m Elia, the teen behind Elicrumbs — a cookie business I started out of my own kitchen. I’m 17, and what started as a fun hobby quickly became something way bigger. I’ve always loved baking, especially cookies, and one day I decided to just go for it — to stop waiting and start something real.

I launched Elicrumbs with the goal of creating bold, unforgettable cookies that feel homemade, but still exciting and different. I hand-make every cookie myself — testing flavors, perfecting textures, and making sure every bite is worth it. My cookies aren’t just soft and chunky — they’re full of personality, just like me.

Right now, I offer a variety of cookies using different base doughs like chocolate chip, double chocolate, vanilla, Oreo, and more. I’m always experimenting with new flavors and ideas to keep things fresh. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, I probably have something for you (or I’ll bake it).

But beyond the cookies, what really sets Elicrumbs apart is the story. I didn’t wait until I was older or more “ready” to chase something I cared about — I just started. I’m building this brand from the ground up, while also being a full-time student, planning for college, and saving for my first car. So every order, every customer, every message — it all means a lot to me.

I want people to know that Elicrumbs isn’t just about sugar and dough. It’s about showing young people — especially girls and students like me — that you don’t have to wait to start something meaningful. I’m proud that I took a risk and made it happen.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Honestly, I didn’t have some big strategy when I started on social media. I just posted constantly. I showed what I was baking, what flavors I was selling, and what my day looked like behind the scenes. I wasn’t trying to go viral or anything — I was just being real and showing what I love to do.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

I wouldn’t say there’s just one resource that changed everything for me, but I’ve definitely picked up a lot from different places. I look up to other bakers and small business owners — especially young ones who started with nothing and just figured it out along the way. Seeing people like that inspired me to start even if I didn’t have everything “perfect.”

I’ve also read baking books that go deeper into how recipes work — not just “follow this,” but like why certain ingredients matter, what makes cookies soft vs. crispy, how to balance flavors, and so on. That helped me feel more confident creating my own recipes instead of copying others. I wanted my cookies to feel original.
