We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eleni DeGeorge. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eleni below.
Eleni, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Welcome to the Uprising!
Hi, my name is Eleni and I am a musician, artist, songwriter, and the creator of Eleni and the Uprising! My whole life, I’ve always loved music and it is my purpose and favorite topic. In middle school, I started learning how to play guitar, I loved singing, and I began writing my own songs! Which always felt like a diary, in a way! I would write about my experiences, my friend’s experiences, and my overall feelings and dreams.
I started Eleni and the Uprising to share my music, and overall creative vision with the world. In hopes that maybe others would love it too.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Eleni and the Uprising is a pop, punk, and rock music project that I started!
I am so excited because my first album, “The Future Starts Now” is officially out! It’s an album that definitely has so much meaning for me! I’ve been working on this album for what feels like FOREVER now. And I am so proud that it’s finally out there for people to hear. This is only just the beginning! There’s so much to the album that still has to be unveiled, so get ready…! The album touches on topics like love, breakups, bullying, and dealing with “mean people”. The first single off of the album was “Poison” a song that captivates the art of neon colors, and a whirling first date story. With a taste of Poison apples and pop punk angst.
In 2024, I released my first collaborative single with Panacea Records called “Neon Dreams”. This song was so much fun to make. I feel that it shows a totally different side of my music, and creative vision. I wanted the music video to be very futuristic and cyberpunk-oriented.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist to me, is seeing my songs and music video visions become a reality! I love writing songs, and it’s so cool to see them go from an idea playing in my head to something that people can actually hear! When combined with the music videos, it’s a dream come true for me! It is also so rewarding when people watch the videos and listen to the songs and enjoy them too! It’s so cool when people tell me their stories and how they relate to the music.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started creating my album, I had to completely rerecord it. I had the songs written and was working a ton at my then-retail job to get the money that I needed to initially record it. I spent a lot of time and money recording the album with a friend, to later on get the mixes back and be so upset. It sounded so different from what I originally wanted, so I had to pivot and save up again to record it again with a different producer.
