Hi Elecktra, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Do I wish I started my creative careers sooner? Yes and no. I am one of those people who full heartedly believes that what’s meant for you is meant for you in whatever time it comes to you. I believe in divine timing and sometimes being in the right at the place at the right time is all you need to kickstart a career. I do often wonder what my life would be like if I had gotten my life together sooner and put my career in motions when I was younger, how far along on my career path would I be? This is ponder frequently.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a drag entertainer, I love to dress up in extravagant outfits and put on beautiful makeup to step into a crowd full of people as the lights hit my face I begin to create a fantasy. Like many forms of live entertainment it’s all about creating a mood, a vibe, or a feeling in order to pull people into my world I must create an atmosphere that blooms imagination that makes people believe what they see ergo my fantasy. Ive been doing Drag for about 6 years now, I started the way most queen get their start, by enter into a drag competition. From there I started performing and slowly working my way into the scene it was not easy and I had a lot of help along the way, but I’ve built a name for myself and I plan to continue to do so.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I wouldn’t call this a lesson per say but something I definitely had to unlearn was putting my ego aside. I felt like a lot of the lack of momentum I was running into in my career was due to my ego. There was a lot of times I thought I was too good for something or I deserved this instead of someone else. Eventually I came to the realization that nothing is promised to you and you don’t deserve anything thing if you don’t go out and get it for yourself. You can’t wait around for someone to just give it to you.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
For me there were a lot of moments in my life where I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. One particular moment for me was when I was working retail for the last time and this was during the pandemic I think I came to the realization I need more out life more of my career and I was willing to risk everything to make that happen. So I quit my job and started driving for Uber and really started hitting the pavement with my drag. That moment was the push I needed to get all of this started.
