We recently connected with Elec Simon and have shared our conversation below.
Elec, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
Issues: thinking someone has your back or thinking someone not taking your journey serious but they wanna be a part of it.
Having the right marketing strategies
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
“As a seasoned Event MC based in Orlando FL, I specialize in opening up the hearts and minds of your audience, setting the stage for an impactful message from keynote speakers. With a commitment to engaging your audience throughout the entire event, I take pride in orchestrating crowd participation and creating an immersive experience. I bring an extra layer of excitement by collaborating with my talented DJ/Drummer or my 3-4 man percussion ensemble.
But I’m more than just an MC. My primary focus is ensuring that your event runs seamlessly on time and with unwavering power. I am dedicated to making every moment unforgettable for both you and your attendees. By keeping the audience engaged and orchestrating a show that leaves a lasting impression, I ensure your event’s success. I emcee for alot of big name influencers such as Lewis Howes,
Jen Gotlieb and Chris Winfeild, Sean Whalen and one of the best in the business Mrs Jade Simmons
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first got hired in the show Stomp. I lost my job due to a back injury. I could barely walk or stand up. I thought they were going to have me rest for a week and then do the show but no, they sent me home and said I would never do this show. Two years pass, I was down depressed, anxiety suicidal then I got a call asking if I could prove that I was healed. I had to go back and re-audition and do the same thing. I did all over again two years ago I’d be out 870 people in Boston This time the audition was in New York City. I had to go against 1800 people and I beat them all out and I got my job back that moment right then I knew I was resilient. Whatever God had for me was supposed to be for me I’ve been told no , I’ve had people say I will call you back. We will email you back and I get no response. I get nothing I had people say I’m too busy. Can we set up a email later and never hear back from them so I said to myself, I’m gonna do this myself and be resilient after all the doors that were closed I still kept going , that’s why I’m successful today because I never gave up and I’m still resilient to this day.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
If you are a non-creative, you still have to go hard or go home. Even the 9 to 5 person can never dim their light to fit in somebody’s room. They can never sell their soul to be Light. They can never not be their self in a room just to get a promotion. You always have to be yourself. as a creator, you are around of a lot of different personalities and the main thing is always be yourself. Those of you that are listening or reading or watching this interview know that you can never dim your light in a room just to get ahead it will never work it might seem like it’s working out but sooner later it’s going to catch up to you and God‘s gonna say you wasn’t yourself so I’m taking you out of this. You have to be yourself in any room when I walk in any room I am Alex Simon no matter what .
