We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eleana Estrada. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eleana below.
Eleana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
My business idea started after a visit to the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois, in the Fall of 2018. There was an indigenous exhibition that I was impressed by, and upon returning home, I started to look into my own indigenous roots in Mexico. I did a lot of research before starting to create products in late 2019 and I truly immersive myself into creating my jewelry during the covid 19 pandemic in 2020. The following year I started to grow an online presence but my business didn’t actually take off until 2022 when I received a reimbursement check of $500 this is what finally funded my business and allowed it to truly take off. Now my business has expanded from jewelry to a newsletter, and a podcast!
Eleana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Curiosity sparked my interest in creating jewelry, but my creativity truly made my business thrive. I am a creator of all sorts, I have written and published books and used my platform to showcase other creative minds. I always set myself on expanding my horizons and providing my audience with artistic value and academic subjects.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
TianquiztliCreations was the second go-around in creating my small business. Prior to this, the name of my company was Velvet Crow but at the time I didn’t quite have a good grasp on the reason for the business and therefore the idea fell apart. It took me a few years to get it right.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media presence by making authentic connections, To me it was never about the followers but about the supporters I was gaining. My advice to those trying to build their social presence have patience and be authentic , interact with your supporters.
