Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elda Marletd Sanchez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Elda Marletd, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Since I was a little girl I remember looking at my grandmother sewing in her vintage Singer sewing machine. I knew since then that sewing was something I wanted to do. But for some reason I never did until couple years ago. Before sewing I did Baking Classes and Child Development. But around 5 yrs ago I got a fall Winter classes schedule on the mail and I check the classes and saw sewing and It started on that day, I went and stayed there until 2020 when the pandemic started and I had to stop. But I’m hoping to go back this Fall/Winter.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my small business during quarantine I started doing Tshirts, but since I knew how to sew and face mask were no where to be found I started doing them for my family. And one day I did a headband and face mask matching set for me and a lot of my friends love them and started to ask me to make them for them. Each week I would offered different fabrics and styles. Now that I don’t sell as much face mask I still have headbands, Tshirts, Hats and jewelry etc Most of my designs are Inspired by my Mexican Culture and strong hard working women. I do a lot of costume orders and I’m planing to add more hand made items. I do all the sewing, printing, ironing , packaging etc

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
After two years I still get so nervous every time I do a sell, but once they received it and they send me pictures wearing my garments I get so exited. It’s so rewarding creating something and seeing people loving them. Sometimes you just see a Tshirts but you don’t know how many samples and mistakes where made before the finish product.
How did you build your audience on social media?
For me social media is really important, that’s were most of my costumers come from. I share a lot of my everyday working, sewing , packing etc I Share the pictures my costumers send me of them wearing my items etc Being social media active is really important
