We were lucky to catch up with Ebi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ebi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
As an entrepreneur I manage my own social media along with other marketing tools.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Ebi. I am Mexican-American born and raised in beautiful Florida. I have the most wonderful and supportive man by my side. We have 3 beautiful children ages 21, 15, and 5. I attended UCF, in Orlando, FL. I received a Bachelor’s in Microbiology and later went into the field of pharmacy. I was employed at Walgreens for over 10 years. Throughout all those years of school and work, my creative and social side always managed to stay strong. I helped organize many events and concerts around the Orlando area. Aside from that, I was also planning gatherings for friends and family often. I love bringing people together! I consider myself to be a social person. I am also a sucker for creativity and DIYs! Growing up, I was the one gathering all the kids from the block for a game of kickball and I loved drawing, painting, and decorating my room. These are the most vivid memories I have of my childhood. I suppose you can say I’ve always been a people person and have loved CREATING; whether it was creating on paper or with my hands and ideas or even making up new games with my friends. I’m a DIY-er 100%!
How Picnic Perfect Orlando was born:
Like many new businesses, I suppose you can say I have the pandemic to thank, in a way, for leading me to create Picnic Perfect Orlando. With all the lockdowns came free time and with free time most of us picked up hobbies. Being a DIY-er with a new home I grabbed some tools and began dabbling with woodworking. I came to LOVE it! I wanted to build everything!
Sometime in late 2020, my daughter came to me with the idea of luxury pop-up picnics. That was it! She introduced me to something where I could work on my woodworking skills, get creative, decorate and have the opportunity to meet new people and bring them together! I mean, it was just PERFECT! Immediately, I fell in love with the idea and got to work.
I was officially opened for business in May of 2021 and it has been incredible!
The amount of support I have received from friends, family, and our clients has been truly unbelievable and humbling. I have also gotten the opportunity to work with so many different vendors and I have met some amazing people! It has all been incredibly great! Orlando is truly filled with so much talent! I am excited to say I have definitely found my calling!
Although I specialize in picnic setups, Picnic Perfect has grown and evolved into so much more! I now offer micro-event decorating and balloon services too. So whether you’re looking to book a picnic and enjoy the outdoors, plan a bridal or baby shower or even have a wedding to design- I can help! My picnics are not your traditional blanket and basket picnics. Oh no, my setups consist of tables, pillows, candles, themed decor, food, balloons, backdrops, tents, you name it! I can make your setup as intimate or as extravagant as you’d like. I’ve set up in backyards, indoors, public parks, lakes, and the beach. I create an escape from the ordinary where you have the opportunity to bond with your friends and family. We all live such busy lives sometimes we just need to slow down a bit and enjoy a picnic. It’s as simple as that. And the best part of it all – you get to enjoy your celebrations by not having to worry about the setting up and cleaning up part. I do it all for you!
I would say my company is best known for our flexibility, originality, and attention to detail in all our setups. It’s what sets us apart from the rest, in my opinion. I go above and beyond to find the best, most fitting decor for whatever the occasion or theme is. If I can’t find it, I will make it. Being able to build backdrops, tables, tents and make things like centerpieces to suit a setup is one of my favorite aspects of the business. The details are the most enjoyable part of the process. They create originality in every setup.
The biggest reward in doing this is being able to help my clients plan the setup of their dreams and then see their faces light up on the day of the picnic or event!
It’s a feeling I can’t describe but it fills me with so much happiness and motivates me every single time to continue to do this and continue to evolve! I love what I do. I love that I am able to touch so many lives and be a part of so many milestones! I am excited every day and I am eager to see how I will continue to help our community celebrate!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have been in business a little over a year and I have, in my opinion, a great following in social media. I have achieved this growth organically. By this I mean I have not paid for any assistance in growing my social media presence. My advice to someone who is starting is to be consistent in posting relevant content and more so, focus on good service and referrals from friends and clients. Do giveaways and encourage your followers to tag and mention your business.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Clients tell me they are drawn to my business for my attention to detail. I strive to add pieces that are unique. If I can’t find these pieces, I often build or make them. Whether it’s centerpieces or backdrops- whatever it takes to add that special touch! I believe this has helped me build a strong reputation of being a custom decorator. Every setup strengthens my skills and I gain yet another happy client! It’s a win-win!
