We were lucky to catch up with Elaine Burge recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elaine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I am happy as a business owner. I feel like it occupies quite a few parts of my brain but I love it. The entrepreneurial journey has been so much fun when I thought the only fun part was painting! I do often think about what it would be like to have a regular job and that seems like it would be difficult! There are definitely difficult parts to owning your own business but I feel like the pros outweigh the cons, for sure.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an artist in Tennille, Georgia. I have always love to create. I would look for any job that would put a paintbrush in my hand – murals, signs, portraits. I love to create meaningful art that evokes joy.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was recently denied access to an art show but I am still creating.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Inspiration comes while working. I find that the more I paint, the more I get ideas about how to become a better artist.
