We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ekaterina Lukianova. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ekaterina below.
Alright, Ekaterina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’m happy to be creative and I can’t imagine my life without it. My work is my inspiration. Thanks to this, I have a lot of opportunities to travel, communicate with interesting people and I am happy to present my art to the public. I also believe that any job is important, the main thing is to find something that will be to your liking.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I was little, by a happy coincidence, which eventually determined my path, I got into the dance section in my hometown of Kaliningrad. We performed a lot and I realized that for me it was more than a hobby and went to study professionally in Minsk. There I graduated from the choreographic college and worked at the Bolshoi Theater of the Republic of Belarus. Now I’m happy to work with World Ballet Company in the USA. With our performances, we want to tell you that ballet is for everyone and it’s not boring at all. I will be very happy to see my readers at our performances.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think it is difficult for many people who are not connected with art and in particular with ballet to understand why artists sometimes dance through pain, erased fingers in blood from pointe, overcome injuries and re-enter the stage, why these sacrifices, because the profession of an artist is not as vital, for example, the profession of a doctor or those who work in factories, mines. I will answer this question like this: there should always be a place for inspiration and magic in life, otherwise, among the same working days, you can just get lost, coming to the performance, the spectator gets into another world, where you can at least for a while distract yourself from routine affairs and enjoy art. I think it’s very uplifting, inspiring and allowing a person to reboot.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It’s already a part of me, I can’t imagine myself without it. I love backstage life, reincarnation into different images on stage, audience love, flowers after performance, travel and much more…
