Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ekaterina Ermilkina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ekaterina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I am an artist and I think first of all it takes all your time to be successful, also understanding the business side of art. Success varies greatly among artists, and what works for one may not work for another. Each artist’s journey is unique, shaped by a combination of different factors and personal circumstances. Success in art is often a combination of talent, hard work, strategic planning, and a bit of luck.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an artist specializing in oil painting with a pointillistic style. I have always been fascinated by the interplay of colors and light. My journey into pointillism began when I discovered the works of Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. Inspired by their meticulous technique and vibrant compositions, I started exploring this style in my own work.
Using a palette of vibrant oil paints, I meticulously apply small, distinct dots of color to the canvas. This technique, known as pointillism, allows me to create rich, textured compositions that come to life when viewed from a distance. The layering of colors and careful placement of each dot requires patience and precision, resulting in dynamic and luminous artworks.
For me, painting is not just a visual expression but a meditative process. Each dot is a deliberate act, a moment of reflection. I hope that my paintings invite viewers to pause and appreciate the subtle beauty in the details of our everyday surroundings.
I invite you to explore my collection and experience the world through the lens of pointillism. You can view my work on my website www.ermilkina.com or follow my artistic journey on social media. Feel free to reach out for commissions or inquiries.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
As an artist, my mission is to capture the intricate beauty of the natural world through the vibrant interplay of light and color in my pointillistic oil paintings. I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and mindfulness in my audience, encouraging them to appreciate the details and textures that make up our environment. Through my work, I hope to contribute to the evolution of pointillism, promote environmental awareness, and create an emotional connection that inspires reflection and appreciation for the world around us.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Participating in solo and group exhibitions, both locally and internationally, has increased my visibility and credibility. Showing my art in reputable galleries and art fairs was significantly enhanced my reputation.
Emotional connection is very important when creating art. My paintings resonate emotionally with viewers, evoking feelings of joy, nostalgia, or tranquility, and fostering a sense of connection and empathy through detailed and colorful compositions.
