We recently connected with EJ Rodmon and have shared our conversation below.
EJ, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Honestly, I would say the most meaningful project that I’ve worked on would be the album I just released called “Fighting my Demons”. I say that because I really do feel like it is my most honest and pure project to date. This past year has arguably been one of the most difficult years in my life. From relationships, to death, to regrets about past choices, and just life in general. It truly was a mental war and I feel the album really documents that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Yeah so I am an R&B/Hip-Hop artist from Eastside Atlanta, and my goal is to just create music that people can relate to and use as soundtracks for their own lives. I got into the music industry when I was about 5 years old. I was performing a lot around Atlanta, and that really helped me develop a passion for music. After a while I began writing and recording my own music and have been doing that for almost 2 years now. I am most proud of the things I have been able to accomplish so far, and my potential fans can expect to definitely see consistent music from me from this point on.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
It’s honestly just creating content that brings value and being consistent with it. During the time when I began posting videos of me singing, rapping, and dancing on my Instagram page, I was able to catch that very end of that era of when Instagram was eagerly pushing your content out, kind of like how TikTok is right now, so yeah that definitely helped me a lot. But some advice I can say to others and my younger self due to me learning from my own mistakes would be to once you do have that wave of attention, definitely keep being consistent, and bring all those new eyes that are now on your page to a platform where you have a little more control of them being able to see your content.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Definitely the reactions and responses from others after hearing a song, or project of mines. Good or bad, I love creating something and seeing the impact it makes on other people’s lives.
