We recently connected with Eisha Casimir and have shared our conversation below.
Eisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
For me, the story of how I named my brand, HERMINE, is deeply personal.
HERMINE is actually my given middle name. Funny enough, growing up, I wasn’t a fan of it—l kept it a secret for years. But when I started my swimwear brand and was searching for the perfect name, I discovered the meaning behind HERMINE: in different languages, it translates to feminine, travel, and soldier. It felt so aligned with the essence of my brand, which is about embracing strength, femininity, and the journey we’re all on.
Now, the mission behind HERMINE has expanded into something even more meaningful-embracing your identity and learning to love yourself. It’s a reminder to me and hopefully to others that there’s power in owning who you are, name and all.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Of course! My name is Eisha Hermine Casimir , and I’m the founder and creative director of HERMINE, a luxury swimwear brand rooted in empowerment, individuality, and timeless design. My journey into the fashion industry began as a former model, where I gained firsthand experience with fashion, fit, and what makes women feel confident. Modeling gave me an insider’s perspective, but it also fueled my desire to create something of my own-something that celebrates authenticity and individuality.
HERMINE is more than just a swimwear line-it’s deeply personal. The name comes from my given middle name, which I kept private for years. When I was searching for the perfect name for my brand, I discovered its beautiful meanings in different languages: feminine, travel, and soldier. Those meanings resonated with the essence of my vision, and I knew it was the right choice.
At HERMINE, we design high-quality, fashion-forward swimwear that blends elegance with functionality. Our mission is to encourage women to embrace their authenticity and feel powerful in their own skin, whether they’re lounging by the pool or stepping into new adventures.
What sets us apart is the thoughtfulness behind every piece. As a former model, I understand how clothing should fit and feel, and I ensure each design is intentional-flattering, comfortable, and empowering. Seeing women shine in our swimwear is what I’m most proud of; it reminds me why I started this journey.
To anyone discovering us for the first time, HERMINE is more than a brand-it’s a movement of self-love and confidence. I hope every woman who wears our designs feels like the bold, beautiful force she truly is.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
HERMINE’s reputation has grown because of a commitment to authenticity and connection. The brand’s story is personal-it’s my middle name, and its meanings reflect the essence of who I am and what I want to offer: elegance, resilience, and exploration. People connect with that honesty and purpose.
I also believe consistency and quality have been key. From the very beginning, l’ve been intentional about every piece we design, ensuring it empowers the individuals who wear it.
Collaborations and milestones, like being recognized at Miami Swim Week, have also helped solidify HERMINE as a trusted name in the swimwear industry.
But more than accolades, it’s the community of people who love and resonate with the brand that has really built our reputation.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that perfection equals success. When I started HERMINE, I felt this pressure to have everything flawlessly mapped out-every design, launch, and decision. But the truth is, waiting for perfection can hold you back.
The backstory really ties to HERMINE’S first major photoshoot and project. I spent so much time obsessing over every little detail, afraid that if one thing wasn’t right, the entire brand would fail. But I learned through experience-and a few bumps along the way-that taking imperfect action is still progress. My brand and vision grew stronger because I allowed myself to take risks, embrace mistakes, and learn as I went. That mindset shift has been invaluable, not just in business but in life.
