We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eileen Borski. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eileen below.
Hi Eileen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
One of the most impactful pieces of advice shared with a client was this: “You don’t have to climb the whole mountain today—just focus on the next step.” The simplicity of this concept helped transform a client who was overwhelmed by their journey with PTSD and anxiety into someone who could embrace steady progress and achieve remarkable results. This particular client came to me feeling stuck in a cycle of avoidance, fear, and low self-esteem. They struggled with intrusive memories, nightmares and debilitating anxiety and believed that their challenges were too monumental to overcome. Each day felt like a battle, and the idea of healing seemed like an impossible goal.
Through a combination of EMDR therapy and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback, we focused on calming their nervous system and gently processing past traumas. However, the real turning point came when I encouraged them to focus on what they could do rather than what they felt they couldn’t. I asked them to identify one manageable action they could take that day to care for themselves—a walk outside, journaling for five minutes, or simply breathing deeply for three counts. I explained that healing doesn’t happen in leaps and bounds; it’s a series of small, consistent steps that add up over time. By shifting their perspective and setting micro-goals, this client began to experience small victories that built their confidence. Over time, their symptoms diminished, and they became more resilient. They described feeling “lighter” and more in control of their life.
Today, this client has not only reduced their anxiety but has also reports achieving balance and better communication in relationships, and pursuing a career they love—goals that once felt unattainable. The power of small steps is universal. Whether you’re grappling with trauma, anxiety, or any other challenge, focusing on what’s manageable in the moment can be the key to moving forward. Healing isn’t about perfection or speed—it’s about persistence and self-compassion, one step at a time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a born and raised Southern woman passionate about listening and helping people. I wasn’t born knowing how to do any of this, and the journey was eventful, helpful, and filled with twists and turns. I grew up in south Mississippi in a modest home led by my creative, caring mother. She taught me about compassion for and acceptance of others, which still defines a big part of my life. In addition, as a single mom, she taught me that someone can achieve great things with little means. Overall, she taught me to live in the moment and be present to whoever or whatever was before me right there.
So what about those twists and turns? I started working through college as a young mother and wife to pursue a career in business and finance, and I accomplished that goal. I graduated with a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration, and for 25 years, I worked for large, multi-national corporations traveling the world, achieving business goals, learning about various cultures, and honestly, a lot about myself. And then I got an email! It was a turning point email that changed my entire professional life path. The email was from an academic conference highlighting the various speakers. One of the speaker’s topics was mental health. This email is where the journey began; I started reading research on different mental health problems and the varied treatment options supporting the improvement of those problems. So, I quit my successful business career, returned to graduate school, and obtained a master’s degree in clinical mental health after a twisting path of challenges and inspirations. So, finally, in my 50s, I was ready for this new journey in my life. And now, I am proud to share the success stories of my clients, who have overcome their mental health challenges and achieved their life’s goals, inspiring me and others every day.
So what next? I started helping others as a counselor in a private practice and an outpatient hospital using traditional talk therapy. However, as I continued to read research on mental health, I was intrigued with more modern, evidence-based interventions that emphasized the brain’s ability to heal and change. Overall, I focused on interventions that allow the brain to heal itself. First, I pursued a certification in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), an intervention where the therapist guides the client through a series of phases, engaging the brain to update old negative memories with a revised, favorable resolution of a stressful experience. I watched over and over again as my clients experienced healing through EMDR. In connection with this healing, their mental health, relationships, and achievement of life’s goals improved.
However, there were some clients where EMDR was not enough. So I again returned to the research and discovered the benefits of neurofeedback-specifically IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback (MCNF), and obtained certification as an MCNF provider. MCNF is a treatment that is non-invasive, drug-free, and painless. Moreover, MCNF uses microcurrents to stimulate the brain, promoting relaxation and optimizing the brain’s function. The current of the stimulation is less than the energy from a cell phone. Clients consistently report MCNF helps with a variety of problems, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, stroke symptoms, ADHD, insomnia, and so much more. Research supports improvements in 85% of clients in as little as 2-3 sessions, with sustained results after as few as 15-20 sessions. In addition, MCNF clients report improvements related to peak performance, including in areas related to career, creativity, sports, and academic performance.
Next, I developed a unique treatment program that combined MCNF and EMDR to help individuals experience their turning point. I opened my practice, Authentic Brain Solutions (https://authenticbrainsolutions.com). My work at Authentic Brain Solutions is the proudest achievement in my career, resulting in transformative changes in my clients’ lives. I see families function better; I see the struggling athlete or executive move to the next level of achievement; I see people stuck for decades in stories of abuse and trauma experience a new perspective and joy for life; I see children with ADHD and behavioral problems explode with joy when they express how their lives have improved; I see clients improve physically and cognitively after a stroke, and so much more. The joy and fulfillment I derive from helping others this way is immeasurable and drives me in my daily work.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building a reputation within the mental health and Neurotherapy field has been a combination of dedication, expertise, and a deeply client-centered approach. At Authentic Brain Solutions, I’ve focused on creating a safe, compassionate environment where clients are not just heard, but truly understood and supported in their healing journeys.
My certifications as a licensed professional counselor, nationally certified counselor, certified EMDR therapist, and certified IASIS microcurrent neurofeedback provider have been instrumental. These advanced techniques and layers of knowledge allow me to address not just the symptoms but also the root causes of issues like anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain. By targeting the underlying causes, together we can craft a treatment plan to achieve long-lasting relief and improved mental well-being. Clients see results; their referrals and testimonials have been a cornerstone of my practice’s growth.
Moreover, I’ve made it a priority to stay at the forefront of brain health and therapy techniques. This commitment to ongoing education ensures that I can offer practical and effective solutions tailored to individual needs. By consistently publishing informative content, like blogs and articles on topics such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, men’s mental health, and neurofeedback, I’ve further established my credibility and reached those who need support the most.
Ultimately, it is about making a genuine impact—helping people not just survive but thrive. This commitment extends beyond my clients to the wider community, where I support local schools, churches, and community events. This type of community involvement resonates with clients and the wider community, fostering a supportive and understanding environment for mental health and neurotherapy.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely. Becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in neuro counseling, EMDR therapy, and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. Helping clients overcome challenges like anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain is deeply fulfilling. Witnessing their resilience and transformation reminds me why I chose this path.
While the journey wasn’t without challenges, those experiences have been invaluable in shaping me into the therapist I am today. If I could return, I might seek out these specialties even earlier. The integration of brain-based therapies has not only helped my clients but has also deepened my passion for understanding the complexities of mental health and the brain.
This field allows me to combine science, compassion, and creativity to help others thrive. I find immense satisfaction in this work and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
