Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eila Algood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Eila, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

I hope to be remembered for my optimistic and positive attitude; for living my truth; for sharing love and kindness; and for my leadership.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

In 1987, three weeks after my mom died, my 3 year old daughter, Kristin, began to see and hear my mom. I was already interested in parapsychology and metaphysics, but Kristin’s ability propelled me to read and take classes on psychic development and spirit communication. Simultaneously, my Aunt Lila who lived near Cassadega, Florida, asked me to go with her for readings there by Spiritualist Mediums. From 1991 – 1999, I studied and then taught psychic development at Holistic Studies Institute in Albany, New York. I felt more at home in that environment than anyplace I’d ever been. In the process of learning how to connect with my mom and Spirit, I came to connect more deeply with me. In that process, I found myself going through a divorce and many life changes and left teaching. I used my psychic abilities and mediumship to navigate my life. Fast Forward to 2018, I was living in Hawaii with my wife of 13 years when I got the dreaded cancer diagnosis. In addition to surgery, I knew I had to change my eating habits and return to the invisible world that I had neglected, in favor of my physical existence. As soon as surgery was over, during my physicals recooperation, I began developing an online spiritual program, including videos on various metaphysical topics. I did that for a few years with minimal success.

In 2022, my wife and I purchased a commercial property in our small town. As we were doing the renovations, I began to ponder the idea of having a retail store. It didn’t interest me until the idea of a metaphysical store came into my mind. Then I got excited. I spent months reading and writing the practical “how to’s” of owning and operating a store. I developed a comprehensive business plan. I imagined how it would look, what items I’d want to sell and what the mission of the business would be. I opened Raise Your Vibration on October 1, 2022. After a few months, I began to hold group circles: guided meditation; Spirit Circle and a Pyramid Healing Circle. The response from the community has been very positive. Many people come in and say “we really needed a place like this”‘ “I’m so glad you opened this store”. We also have a large amount of tourist traffic and many people enjoy the experience at the store.

What sets me apart from so many other stores is that I seek to provide an experience. Yes, I need folks to buy crystals, sound healing instruments, etc to make the business sustainable. My focus is to create a high vibe place where people feel relaxed, energized and/or positive when they come in. I share many deep conversations with customers and gauge my day on how many times I got goosebumps while talking with someone (I now call them truth bumps).

I am proud of myself for stepping way out of my comfort zone to create this business and most proud of the smiles I see on my customers.

I want folks to know that I’m in this business to help people raise their vibration and as long as I sell enough products (spiritual tools), and have people attend my groups, I will continue.

My big vision, because I am a big vision person, is to have many stores and hire like minded people to run them.

I recently traveled to Utah, Arizona and New York and went to many crystal stores and sadly, although the stores were designed well and stocked with amazing items, each and every one was missing the most important component – spiritual depth. The person working in the store was pleasant but not at all invested in the products. In my store, I am passionate about helping people connect with their soul/higher self. In many of the stores I shopped, the energy of the space was lacking the high vibration I seek to create each day in my store.

I recently hired someone to work in my store and she feels it’s an honor and a privalege to be in the shop plus I pay her a good living wage. I trust we’ll increase sales to offset this new expense.

I would say that most of my decisions of what to sell, how to layout the store and daily ideas are intuitive. Prior to opening Raise Your Vibration I had zero retail experience.

I don’t go to work each day, I go to play!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I think what’s helped me to build my reputation within my market is being visible on social media in a very authentic way. When I got the cancer diagnosis in 2018, I did the opposite of what I saw others do under similar circumstances. I told everyone. I posted it on Facebook! I felt the way for me to heal wasn’t to hide, but rather to be authentically me. I started my first blog and posted daily all the ups and downs of my journey. I have a very good sense of humor and laughed plenty. But when I was scared, I shared. When I was grateful, I shared. When I was happy, I shared. I think putting myself out in world, honestly with great vulnerability, really helped people trust me. I continue to be that honest, truthful, vulnerable and powerful person.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to unlearn the idea that because I’m a very creative person, I could not successfully create a business. I am married to a very intelligent, smart, sharp businesswoman and I had to stop comparing my process with hers. She and I have had many successful businesses together with her in the lead, but this time, I wanted to do it “my way”. I wanted to take care of the practical day to day stuff, but also mostly use my intuition in daily decisions. What I’m seeing, is that the more I follow my intuition; psychic abilities, the stronger the messages become. In other words, it gets easier to hear/feel the messages each day.
