We recently connected with Eighty Spadez and have shared our conversation below.
Eighty , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As a kid, I would learn the lyrics of a song that I liked, then I’ll flip the lyrics. That was lots of fun! Later in life, I would take over for whoever was rapping by going off of their last line. As I got good at it, a lot of people were starting to gas my head up. Buying into the hype that I was untouchable on the mic hindered me more than anything. Ego. When I figured that out, it sped up everything! That’s when I feel I became great.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Rapper. Gamer. Beatmaker. Anime head. Wrestling fan. That’s what makes me Eighty Spadez. As a kid, I read a lot. I got into Hip-Hop, because I liked that there was a genre of music focused on words and lyrics. I believe my music enables listeners to travel back to certain periods in rap, while learning something in the process. My sound is very unique from my peers, and that’s what sets me apart. One of the things I’m most proud of, is my latest album soon to be released, called Audio Time Capsules.. I believe it to be one of my greatest bodies of work to date. If there’s one thing to know about me, is that I stay in my lane, and do Eighty Spadez. As I learn and grow, you learn and grow with me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn in, is that you have to do everything on your own. Rhymeswell Labs was built by myself & Flowzz Rhymeswell. Our philosophy was always, “we’ll do it ourselves, so we won’t have to depend on anyone else “. No excuses. No interruptions. Just us. I’ve learned that even just the energy of others can make your creation great instead of just good. Collaboration has been key in taking me to the next level.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The ability to create things that I’m interested in. There are a lot of artists who cater to their audience. I create things that are important to me, and I’ve built a audience that vibes with it. It’s more fulfilling for me that way. It allows me to be my most authentic self, while not holding me to only be a certain way all the time. I guess you can say it allows me to express my humanity, good or bad, freely.
