We were lucky to catch up with Ehud Borovoy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ehud thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have decided to provide Krav Maga training to the Dayton community because the country felt divided and many people asked me to teach them how to defend themselves. I believe everyone should know the basic concepts of self defense. I am a strong believer that it is part of a person’s health journey in life.
I teach this method because it is proven to be the best self defense system in the world. It focus on real life situations and how to deal with them effectively and quickly.
Ehud, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ehud Borovoy. I am serving Dayton, OH and surrounding areas (Beavercreek, Centerville, Kettering, Miamisburg, etc), as a Krav Maga instructor, Shiatsu practitioner, licensed massage therapist, and a group/personal fitness trainer; with an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology. I also have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, which combined with my experience of living in Israel, has given me a deep understanding of the human psyche.
I have always had a desire to help others, especially in ways that can improve their health and fitness; giving them a better understanding of how to manage their lifestyle in a positive manner. This is what led me to pursue my passion and turn it into a profession in personal training, Shiatsu, and Krav Maga.
I was born and raised in Israel. At the age of 18, I was drafted into the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), where I trained to be a fitness instructor, and learned Krav Maga. In 1999, I became a fitness instructor for the Israeli Police Academy; where for eight years, I trained cadets to pass their fitness exams. In 2003, I received training in Shiatsu (a Japanese style of massage therapy).
In 2007, I moved to the United States. I attended Wright State University, where I studied and earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology. During this time, I worked as a personal trainer at Wright State University’s Fitness Center. In 2013, I expanded my knowledge and experience in massage by becoming a license massage therapist.
With a rise in violence and crime all over the world, and an increased need for personal safety and self-defense, I started teaching Krav Maga to the Dayton community in 2016. This is a self-defense system with a focus on real life situations and offers solutions that are both simple and effective.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I think the best effective strategy for growing my clientele is divided into two: Word of mouth- friends, family, and previous/current students sharing their experience with others.
