We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eganie González Zaga. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eganie below.
Hi Eganie, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
In the words of one of my closest friends, ‘I’ve always followed my heart.’ This statement holds true for me as well. I used to say that my actions were guided by passion, without premeditation. Whether I encountered success or faced setbacks, I’ve always recognized that each experience contributed to my personal growth.
If I were to identify the three most significant investments I’ve made in my life, they would be, in chronological order:
Pursuing studies in Dramatic Arts and ultimately becoming an actor.
Delving into the world of Yoga, immersing myself in an Ashram/Monastery, and eventually attaining certification as a Raja Yoga Instructor.
Exploring the practice of Meditation and achieving the status of a Tibetan Meditation Teacher.
Rather than providing a single narrative for each of these investments, I’d like to share how they are intricately linked. Each of these pursuits was preceded by one of the three most profound crises or tragedies I’ve encountered in my life. Although I may not have been fully aware at the time, I now see that each crisis served as a unique opportunity for personal expansion and growth.
These challenging moments allowed me to connect with my innermost core and begin the journey toward creativity, purpose and expansion with integrity. By integrity, similar to the teachings of Lao Tzu, I mean the alignment of my desires, thoughts, speech, and actions in harmony with my chosen habits and lifestyle.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Beyond my studies in Marketing and my acting career, my recent focus has been on crafting a unique synergy between my expertise in Raja Yoga and meditation and my artistic and creative inclinations. To manifest this vision, I established ZENIGO (@zenigospace), a platform that encapsulates the essence of the Zen way of life. ZENIGO harmoniously blends the profound philosophies of yoga and meditation with ethical and sustainable fashion and space design. Its mission is dual: to cultivate awareness of conscious living and consumption while also uplifting tribal cultures across the globe.
I help people live a more mindful and eco-friendly life. For those struggling to incorporate mindfulness into their daily routine, I offer guided meditation practices and create zen spaces in their homes or workplaces. This helps them find inner peace and balance amidst their busy lives.
On the fashion front, the natural clothing brand it’s not just about style; it’s about reducing our impact on the planet. By wearing our clothing, people can feel good knowing they’re not contributing to micro-plastic pollution in our oceans. Plus, our clothes are handmade using traditional techniques from Mexican indigenous tribes, which means you’re supporting their culture and livelihoods when you wear our pieces.
What sets me apart? I think again, is the integrity, the heart and mindfulness and transparency of the purpose. The space, the services, the brand its me, therefor it gives a personal touch. I work closely with clients to design spaces that fit their unique needs and preferences. And when you wear our clothing, you’re not just buying fashion; you’re joining a movement for a more conscious and sustainable world. It’s like making a positive impact, one meditation session or clothing item at a time.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
This is an on-going and never ending changing journey. That´s what happen when you decide to align with knowing yourself, searching to expand your consciousness and commit to growth. For me it began with a bold transition from a thriving marketing career at Coca-Cola to pursue my true passion – acting. This decision was a catalyst for personal transformation, recognizing that it was a craft that not only refined my artistic abilities but also allowed me to tap into deeper dimensions of self.
This journey naturally extended into yoga and meditation, where I discovered the profound connection between the inner self and the outer world. These practices aligned with my calling to assist others on their paths of self-discovery and transformation.
Entrepreneurship became a means to share these profound lessons and practices. My entrepreneurial endeavors now span conscious living, sustainable fashion, and holistic space design. The driving force behind these ventures is a commitment to personal growth, spiritual alignment, and a deep desire to help others navigate their own journeys.
In essence, my philosophy and approach to management and entrepreneurship have been shaped by a journey of self-discovery, unconventional choices, and the wisdom of remarkable mentors and experiences.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Your question has made me reflect on the remarkable resilience that every facet of my life has displayed, and I am profoundly grateful for this realization.
The impact of COVID on my business was nothing short of devastating. In a matter of months, it wiped out the progress I had diligently built over four years, leading me to pivot my approach entirely.
Similarly, the recent writers’ strike dealt a significant blow to my acting career. It left me with no opportunities in my field, requiring me to adapt and persevere.
While my life may appear unconventional and unsettling at times, beneath the surface, it resonates with authenticity. Despite the challenges of navigating a fast-paced, capitalist society, I remain committed to prioritizing truth and purpose over the allure of stability.
