We recently connected with Efrat Cohen and have shared our conversation below.
Efrat, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
As educated and experienced professionals we tend to think we are knowledgeable and have all the solutions for our clients. We set goals, propose strategies, and implement solutions. If we are not successful with a client we tend to seek fault in the client and not our service or product. Several years ago I was introduced to a master in my profession. One of the most profound gems she shared with fellow attendees of her course was “don’t make your limitations the limitations of your client”. From that point on, I looked at my clients’ need differently and self assessed my skill set and ability to reach my clients’ goals. In doing so, I realized that my clients from the corporate world were doing well in PT offices, gyms, and exercise classes but not at their workstations. Clients reported all sorts of symptoms that occurred during their workday, such as back, neck, shoulder, and knee pain, stress, difficulty concentrating and being more productive and engaged in their work environments. The current treatment plan was not working. I realized I had to come up with solutions to what was happening at their workstations. Most had appropriate desks and chairs, ergonomically sound. However, it was their reaction to stress and how they were using their workstation– behaviors, body mechanics, and postures that caused their symptoms. With this new insight into client care, I create a workstation program that worked best for these clients. From that experience, I moved on to create my own business and corporate Physical Therapy based wellness program to improve productivity and profitability.
Efrat, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always had an interest in healthcare and helping people. Through working with children with special needs and volunteering at a local children’s hospital, I was introduced to the field of Physical Therapy and rehabilitation. It inspired me to be sensitive to people’s challenges and to think creatively on how to make their daily lives easier and improve their ability and experience in participating in society.

It all comes down to posture.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
To succeed as a Physical Therapist, you need to be open to learning, be it continuing education, latest research, or from the healthcare team. You need to have the ability to listen to the needs of your clients. It is critical to take the time to sort out their history with their symptoms, making differential diagnosis and develop understanding of their challenges with the activities they need or want to do. Customization and innovation with prevention and treatment programs is key. It must include an explanation of the relationship of their body systems to their presentation.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My colleagues and clients know me for my work ethic, innovative and proven clinical skills, and passion for the work I do. They appreciate my creativity in addressing the needs of my clients and customizing innovative and successful treatment and wellness prevention programming. My colleagues and clients value my interest in research and dedication to collaboration with clients and their support as an employee and their management and employer, or individual with their family, friends, and medical team.
