We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Edwina Price. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Edwina below.
Edwina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I know that my mission in life is to positively impact people through health promotion and education, as well as through service projects. It’s a blessing when your passion meets purpose.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the Healthcare industry. My late grandmother, whom was one of my greatest influencers in life, was a retired nurse and caregiver. She always led with class, passion and kindness. I watched and learned from her in many ways. She was my BIGGEST supporter!
The capacity in which I desired to work in the field of Healthcare changed a few times. When introduced to the field of Public Health, I knew I had found my niche – I then had a strong desire to combine my love for both. Through the transitions of life, my career goals changed; however, I gained a new found appreciation for entrepreneurship. I have always been afraid to venture into entrepreneurship – that fear alone is what fueled my desire to take on the challenge of giving birth to the vision that aligned with my life’s mission.
I knew that I had volunteered much time with many organizations and projects, along with thousands of hours of corporate experience- thus qualifying me for the next level of igniting my mission to impact on a larger scale.
In 2018, I set out to begin my journey of birthing and growing How in the Health, LLC. As I transitioned through life, my mission remained the same, but the focus and audience often shifted. As I continue on this journey, I know that I am positively impacting people daily through service projects, events, as well as health promotion and education.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
How in the Health, LLC is a health promotion and education consulting firm that connects people to resources; as well as provide support services. I provide baseline consultations to access the needs of clients before connecting the client to the appropriate professional service provider and/or practice. In some instances, I am able to provide guidance, resources or mentorship without a referral.
I also host and sponsor social events and service projects, participate in public speaking engagements, conduct virtual wellness discussions and publish wellness literature. As I rebrand and restructure my business, I extend the invite for potential collaborations and/or sponsorships.
My passion, connection to many causes and experience in Healthcare, Health Science, Health Promotion and Education, as well as Public Health Administration is what fuels my desire to share information and connect people with resources.
My “official” journey began in high school when I joined the team of a local healthcare practice. A few years later, I transitioned to a specialty healthcare hospital-based practice, where I worked while attending college. During undergrad, I served as President of CSU’s chapter of the national Health Education Honorary Eta Sigma Gamma – where I created, organized and coordinated countless health and wellness programs. I also served as an officer for the pre-med chapter of the American Medical Student Association. I worked in partnership with national health organizations to host, recruit, and raise funds for countless health events – some of which I still support today.
While in undergrad, I volunteered much time with youth groups and still serve as a mentor today. During my senior year of undergrad, I was selected to matriculate through a competitive research internship supported by Morehouse College and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where I worked closely on initiatives carried out by a public health program which is a division of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine.
I traveled abroad to provide health services and health education to undeserved communities. Following graduation, I continued working in Healthcare and served as an executive member of the Health and Wellness Ministry at my local church. I completed my graduate studies in Public Health Administration.
I also served as an entity co-chair of the Health and Wellness committee on a corporate level, where I was privileged to work alongside a diverse group of colleagues who are just as passionate about Health and Wellness. Additionally, I was charged with executing my company’s fundraising and event coordination efforts during a staple health event in the metro-Atlanta area. Lastly, I have had the honor to be the keynote speaker at both small and large events.
I have served in many capacities and shared my talents/skills across many spectrums. I look forward to propelling my brand forward to continue positively impacting lives.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When often asked, if I do How in the Health full time and whether or not I have a corporate job, I share what I think is a key story to my success. It’s the story of when I had to pivot in my career and life.
I am mother to an amazing little boy who has taught me so much about myself. I was a single mom, working full time while also working on my Masters full-time. I wanted my son to have a balanced life so I did not deprive him of all the things kids loved. I made many sacrifices, and I involved him in much of my work. I was and had always been a career-driven woman. My goal was to climb the corporate career ladder and become a well-respected Healthcare executive; I was well on my way.
I remember it like it was yesterday, we came home and my son and I walked into the living room and he said “Mommy do you ever get to take a break or do you just work? Can you just watch a movie with me?” WOW! I paused, because this little boy who I thought understood all of the sacrifices I was making to create a better life and legacy for him, only wanted my time in the present. He did not see me rest and that mattered to him in that moment – hell, it mattered to me too!
So I knew at that moment it was time to pivot. As a woman of strong faith, I trusted God and he provided in many ways. Work-life balance became a huge priority. I begin to realize what mattered most. As time progressed, many things transpired that further confirmed my need for work-life balance. I took a position that was less demanding, and in a way placed a pause on my corporate career climb. That pivot was humbling but much needed in that season of my life; I appreciate the growth, space and opportunities created during that pivot.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media presence can be very beneficial – it’s free advertisement! You’ll find that the engagement varies from platform to platform. Popularity and trends could get you immediate results.
Honestly, my social media audience is still growing. Based on the diversity of my content , my audience fluctuates. I built my audience the “old-skool” way, based on my association. Networking plays a huge role in building your initial audience. People will support on the strength of you being a relatable person or someone who could be beneficial to their business/brand. People will also follow because they support your product/service. Maintaining the audience is based on the content. You have to know your audience and know what appeals to them without compromising your brand. Once you reach a certain level of followers, your presence has to be consistent and engaging. Creating and scheduling content publishing in advance can he helpful as well.
My social media platform varies. My content is informative, yet relatable. I feature professionals and insightful tips, so that has also been a great means for drawing engagement. People also like to see personality, so I often remix the content.
With PR/Marketing experience, I naturally check my engagement stats, I’ve noticed heavy traffic on my page but not a following that reflects how often the pages are viewed or content is shared.
As I work to rebrand, I hope to build my following. The more followers, the even greater the impact – that is always the goal!
