Edward, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a professional Step Entertainer. Step is a dance art form that started in Africa that the slaves used as a form of communication. Eventually in 1906 the first African American Fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha used this form of communication and made it a dance art form to pay homage to the slaves but also show the brotherhood among eacthother . In 1993 i seen this art form in the movie School Daze and learned it from watching it over and over then in 1996 my high had a step team and I joined it .. Then later that year I formed my own group called The Players Club Entertainment and have been world wide since
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My company was the first Step Team to perform on Americas Got Talent , World of Dance , Soul Train Music Awards, Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign for Vogue Magazine, NBA Allstar weekend and much much more . All of this coming from the rough streets of The Bronx NYC
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I learned is there is no one you can depend on but yourself . So you have to make it happen opportunity will not be handed to you . You have to go out there and create your own
