We recently connected with Edward Draven and have shared our conversation below.
Edward, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I believe I’ve always been one to crack jokes and be the center of attention. I remember always wanting to entertain people. One of my teachers in 5th grade wanted me to lead the class play and thats where I fell in love with theater.

Edward, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My mother actually knew that I wanted to do acting. What she didnt know is that I originally only wanted to do acting to come up with a wrestling character, which is hilarious now that I think about it. I always did theatre from Elementary through Highschool but during my freshman year I started to train in film under Dwayne Boyd at Premiere Actors Network. He taught me so much and was so motivating. He had this thing called showcase where talent could perform infront of agents, managers and casting directors and only a few groups could be selected to perform. During this time I was Drama King and President of the Drama club. I was staying after school till 6:30 pm for theatre rehearsals and then walking 2 miles to go rehearse with my scene partner to make sure we were chosen. I did this for weeks busting my butt because I was so scared of failing and not being able to perform. I ended up making it and performing in both my schools play as the lead and then showcase. It ended up pushing me so much because film and theatre have two completely different styles of acting. I’m happy that I pushed myself though. It made me realize that I could put in the work.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I really wish that I wouldve known about the Atlanta’s Actors Collective. They’ve really done an amazing job at keeping the acting community in Atlanta fun and informative. I’ve met so many amazing people and Ive been to stellar events through them .
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There are alot of things that feel rewarding as a creative. Seeing my name on magazines, getting callbacks for feature films and being invited to red carpets are just a few. Even seeing my name in short film credits make me feel happy because whether its a short film, commercial or feature film I give each my all.
