We were lucky to catch up with Eduardo Arteaga recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eduardo , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
It all started as a hobby. I began to photograph mostly everything that caught my attention. Eventually, my curiosity and desire to learn more about photography led me to realize that I needed to take additional training, and a lot more practice.
I took online courses, watched hundreds of videos and read a lot of books on the subject. Additionally, I gathered the proper software tools and learned how to use them.
The quality of my images began to gradually improve. Shortly after that, I started to receive positive feedback along with compliments on my work.
I started posting my images to a portal and people were asking me if these were for sale anywhere.
After creating a small gallery of images, a few sales occurred. This was the decisive moment that inspired and prompted me to go full fledged with this endeavor.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After a successful career in information technology, I developed a passion for travel and photography. The photography equipment I use, as well as my photography skills have been in a constant evolution process. I consider myself an eternal apprentice.
I began to combine my technical skills with digital photography to produce high-quality creative images. On my leisure time, I enjoy photographing an array of subjects in locations around the world and my hometown in North Texas.
Not everything has been smooth, however, it has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. At the beginning of my photography journey, I did not have adequate equipment, nor the skills.
I had more determination than anything else. Often, the end results were not what I expected to see.
As the adage goes “practice makes perfect”, that became my reality and to this day I keep practicing and experimenting.
I tend to study the images that others have created and challenge myself to produce better results. Accepting suggestions and constructive criticism always improves the result.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
We live in a wonderful world, full of beauty, charm and adventure. The purpose of this effort is to share my vision of the world through these images and to make them available to anyone who may like them as much as I do.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The list of resources I wish I knew prior to this endeavor is pretty long. I I wish I had the proper technology and knowledge to capture a lot of the images. Sometimes I have the desire to go back to some of the wonderful places I visited just to do it all over again.
