We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Edsha Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Edsha below.
Edsha, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
As a beauty professional, my role extends far beyond just styling hair. Each day behind the chair, I transform into a fashion stylist, life coach, business consultant, confidant, sometimes priest and more often than not, a therapist. I cherish the opportunity to create a sanctuary where my clients can find solace and support beyond the realm of hair care.
Just recently, a fairly new client shared her life and the things she’d been going through. I provided her with love, energy, advice, prayer, and a style personalized just for her. She wept, and in that moment, I held her and allowed her to release her emotions. Despite only having 5-6 appointments since she became a client earlier this year, we’ve built a deep connection.
Going the extra mile and stepping into these multifaceted roles; being a source of strength, clarity, knowledge, love and confidence is my way of showing clients how much I care and appreciate their time, trust, and investment in my business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thank you! I’m Edsha Love Jones, the proud owner of The Luxury Hair Lab, where I am a Luxury Extension Specialist, Educator, and Entrepreneur. Our mission is to elevate women’s lives through transformative hair experiences. We are dedicated to authenticity, meticulous craftsmanship, personalized care, and education, providing premium, quality hair extensions and hair care that enhance not only outward beauty but also inner confidence.
I’ve been a licensed stylist since the age of 17 and have been a licensed cosmetology instructor for three years. My love affair with extensions began in 2011 when I chose “The Big Chop”, and I truly understand the deep connection women have with their hair. At The Luxury Hair Lab, I’ve helped countless clients transform into their most beautifully authentic, resilient, and confident selves.
Beyond my beauty brand, I also run Edsha Love Enterprises, where I share my journey and resources related to wellness, growth, parenting and various topics that are interesting to me and people like me. One of my proudest achievements is My Daily Gratitude Journal, which I developed and designed myself. I call it “a life changing gateway to a world where appreciation breeds abundance” and it truly is just that. Venturing into the digital space has been a thrilling step toward freeing up my time and building new income streams. It’s exciting to continue stepping out of my comfort zone, pursuing my passions, and helping others discover themselves along the way. I’ve been through a lot in life and I’m proud to say this it’s only made me a stronger, more loving and genuine person.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Styling hair has always been a gift of mine so naturally, it became my side hustle. Even in high school, I would braid on my front porch and often styled family and friends. However, I never saw it as my career path; I dreamed of becoming an astronaut or an aeronautical engineer (Sometimes I wonder if I actually would’ve enjoyed those paths since they’re so different from being a creative. Lol). But after losing my mom during my senior year of high school, I and life changed drastically. I went off to college, and soon after, I discovered I was pregnant with my son, who’s now 15. Thankfully, I had a great support system & had obtained my cosmetology license just a month after high school graduation. Once I was well enough, I started working in a salon; the rest is history.
A key moment in my journey was deciding to go natural. The last chemical service I received left my hair limp and lifeless, and I regretted it immediately. I began experimenting with different extensions while allowing my natural hair to grow out. Eventually, I chose “The Big Chop,” cutting off all my chemically-treated hair. From that point, I explored various extensions and styles, loving the ability to transform from one look to the next. With each new style I became more skilled. Consistency in my craft not only boosted my confidence but also helped me build credibility and establish myself as a sought-after extension artist.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Consistency has been key to building my reputation in the market. I pride myself on my commitment to personal and professional growth. This dedication has driven me to learn new techniques, hone my expertise, and refine my customer service, ultimately elevating the overall client experience.
Another core of my success has been integrity and authenticity. In my opinion, people buy into you before they buy what you do. While I’m far from perfect and as human as they come, I always show up genuinely and with love. My clients feel the authenticity—they’ve shared that with me often. It’s not your average salon vibe, and that’s what sets us apart.
