We recently connected with Edmund Adjei-Baah and have shared our conversation below.
Edmund , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
In 2014, while I was a student at Richland Community College…I started hanging out more with my brother/business partner Iniemem Edet. He came and told me how he had an idea of making funny videos. Since I was good at dancing, I told him that I would help him make dance videos. We decided to make dance videos and started performing at shows, college events and music videos in 2015. During that time we created Spicysuya Boyz. Fast forward to 2016, we started to delve into comedy videos full time due to the lack of respect that was shown to us as dancers. People would not take us seriously as dancers and that made us venture into comedy videos. From 2016, we never looked back and it has been steam rolling into something great that has opened up a lot of opportunities for spicysuya boyz as a brand. 2016 was the year that made us pursue this route full time and we are continuing to soar each and every year

Edmund , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Spicysuya Boyz is comprised of two energetic tantalizing kings hailing from West Africa. King Spicy from Nigeria and King Guapo from Ghana. We moved to the United States during our teenage years and we both grew up here in Dallas while learning and living the American lifestyle. We create funny, quirky, hilarious feel good content on all social media platforms that boosts your self confidence, makes your day better and tantalizes your spirit. What sets us apart is that we have an experience of living the best of both worlds (being born and raised in Africa, while living and learning in the USA) while using comedy an humor to tell our life story to bridge the gap between Africans and African Americans. We are extremely proud of our fan base, which we call our “Tantalizers” that continues to grow all across the board. From 1million followers on Tiktok, to 132k on Facebook to 115k and counting. All the countless messages from people telling me how our videos make their day, get them out of their depression, or telling us how our videos really boosted their self esteem…that gives us the desire to keep on scaling even more. We are here to spread more positive vibes by keeping you laughing every day!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I would say consistency is key. Little drops of water lead to a mighty ocean. Don’t focus on the results, just focus on the process of being the content and creating the content. Figure out what your niche is and what do you do well that other people can not do. Once you figure that out…it will make your social media journey easy!
Rome wasn’t built in one day, so you can’t just expect to blow up and be viral in one day. Keep on learning from the big players in the industry, see what they do well and what they don’t do well and use those lessons to better your craft. Always make sure you’re listening and understanding your fan base because you can only grow if you analyze and study your audience.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In 2016, we had an opportunity to perform at Central Connecticut State University, we barely had money to buy a ticket or hotel…but we knew that if we performed at that show, regardless of our current financial situation, it would open more doors for the Spicysuya Boyz.
We made the painful journey of driving 23 hours to New Britain Connecticut. We nearly got into multiple accidents, fell asleep on the wheel, nearly got pulled over but we made it and performed our hearts out and received a standing ovation. From that day on, we knew that nothing can stop us on our path to greatness and we have not looked back and never will!
