Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edith Sanchez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Edith thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know
If I knew being a hair stylist was going to turn into my passion I would choose to start my journey sooner rather than later. I’d choose to push through my fear and believe in myself more.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Edith Sanches I’m 48 years old, born in Mexico and came to the United States when I was 19. My journey into this industry started off as a hobby just to give me something to do and remove some of the stress from my other job. At the beginning I didn’t want to take this career serious, because everyone I saw in the industry was young & I thought it was too late for me to start and learn something new. There was also a lot of competition in the hair industry, but I pushed through it and I realized that the industry is big enough for all of us. As long as you put your heart in it and truly care for your clients you’ll succeed. I’m proud that despite in such short time I’ve been able to surpass the odd and take classes with different people outside the country to learn new techniques and expand my knowledge. I’ve had the opportunity to learn and grow from some of the best people. I also pride myself in having my clients leave my chair happy with their hair and them know I care for them.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Most of my growth has been from client recommendations. People will ask my clients where they got their hair done and they refer them to me & my page. Another form would be through social media where I upload my work.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has a lot to do with posting & being active on social media with your work. Also, when clients post pictures of their hair they tag my page which brings in new people to check out the work I have posted.
