We were lucky to catch up with Edith Ponciano recently and have shared our conversation below.
Edith, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
EP Atelier’s mission is intricately woven into the fabric of our design philosophy, inspired by Edith Ponciano’s extensive 13-year journey in interior design, with a specialization in sports venues and hospitality projects. This mission is not just a guiding principle; it is the driving force behind our creative approach.
Our mission encapsulates our unwavering commitment to crafting interiors that transcend the ordinary, by delving into the depths of culture, the sweep of time, and the uniqueness of each place we work with. Beyond being a mere aspiration, it’s a reflection of Edith’s deeply held belief in the transformative power of spaces to establish connections, nurture a sense of belonging, and instill a profound purpose within the communities we touch.
What makes this mission profoundly meaningful is its embodiment of Edith’s personal values and vision. It’s about creating an exceptional culture within our firm, one founded on principles of empowerment, transparency, and mentorship. This mission serves as the bedrock for individual and collective growth, providing a robust platform for our team members to excel. It’s not just an idea; it’s a steadfast commitment to bringing about enduring and purposeful change, a commitment that Edith Ponciano and EP Atelier hold dear.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into interior design was sparked by a childhood fascination with design, cultivated through exposure to design shows, blogs, and publications. As I honed my skills, hands-on experiences decorating my family’s homes deepened my passion. I pursued formal education at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in LA, where I recognized the transformative potential of design on experiences. Post-graduation, I embarked on an internship at Gensler, initially in hospitality design, later transitioning to sports design, broadening my expertise.
This path has led me to establish EP Atelier, where we specialize in crafting authentic and meaningful interior design experiences. Our services span a wide spectrum, encompassing commercial interior design, luxury residential interior design, vacation rental interior design, and hospitality product development. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to authenticity and innovation.
One project we take immense pride in is our role as the Interior Design consultant for the new Tennessee Titans Stadium, a testament to our ability to collaborate with industry leaders like Manica and TVS Design, and our dedication to creating exceptional spaces.
What we want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about EP Atelier is that we are not merely a design firm; we are curators of experiences, narrators through design, and advocates for authenticity. We are passionately dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the world of interior design, one space at a time.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One particular moment that stands out in my journey and exemplifies resilience is when I was working on a challenging project early in my career. The project encountered unexpected setbacks, including budget constraints and unexpected design revisions.
However, I refused to be discouraged. I believed in the vision and the potential of the project. I rallied my team, fostering a sense of unity and determination. We brainstormed creative solutions and found innovative ways to meet our client’s needs within the constraints.
Despite the obstacles, we not only completed the project successfully but also exceeded our client’s expectations. This experience taught me the value of resilience, the importance of maintaining a positive mindset in the face of adversity, and the incredible results that determination and teamwork can achieve. It reinforced my commitment to embracing challenges and turning them into opportunities for growth and success.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for us has undoubtedly been word-of-mouth referrals and the strength of our client relationships. Our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional design experiences and creating spaces that truly resonate with our clients has led to not only satisfied clients but also deep and lasting connections. When clients enthusiastically share their positive experiences it not only validates our dedication to quality but also generates a network of potential clients who trust in our abilities. These meaningful client relationships, built on trust and satisfaction, have consistently brought us new opportunities to work with individuals who appreciate our design philosophy and approach.
