We were lucky to catch up with Edi Roque recently and have shared our conversation below.
Edi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Art & Boudoir’s mission is to empower and capture the beauty within women. We are committed to create a safe and supportive space for women to celebrate their bodies and sensuality.
With over 25 years of professional photography, I have developed and perfected the emotional skills and techniques to help women to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
With a very special approach to artistic lighting, here at Art & Boudoir we not only capture each woman’s unique beauty but we offer a day to remember. More than just pictures, our mission is to create a the perfect environment to capture a very special moment for every and each of our clients.
We truly believe that all women are beautiful, regardless of their size, shape, or age.
Art & Boudoir photography has helped women to see themselves in a new light and appreciate their own sensuality. A powerful and liberating experience where women can embrace and connect with themselves.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been doing Editorial and Fashion photography for many, many years now. Boudoir has also been a big part of my photography work but mostly “behind the scenes” until recently.
With the growth of social media, everyone with a camera (or cellphone) became a “photographer”. Many of them, turned into boudoir which is unfortunate. There are just too many people unprepared holding a camera before learning the craft and they are putting themselves out there, talking a big game but not able to manage a session professional and deliver the experience and the material. I’ve heard so many stories… It’s upsetting.
The idea of applying my experience as a model coach and utilizing the camera and lighting techniques from fashion photography into a Boudoir session is exciting and unique. Most of my clients are not professional models so, knowing how to direct and pose them to showcase their best angles and expressions goes beyond the traditional “stand by the window and play with your hair” thing.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to provide the best experience and the most stunning images a women can expect. Everyone in my team is a master in their craft so there’s confidence to focus on what’s the most important aspect in our sessions: our clients.
From Hair and Makeup to Stylist and Set Design, we make sure that our clients feel in their best so they can also look their best.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As I’m still learning to navigate social media, I never relied on it to showcase or market my photography. Specially because I do not feel comfortable sharing photos of clients and exposing them to an audience like many other photographers do.
So for a while, a big part of my clients where simply coming from referral, word of mouth. Eventually someone would find my website but I’m still very bad at this “new kind” of online marketing.
Reputation is something you build with professionalism, respect and passion for the craft. After a lifetime dedicated to empower women through Fashion, now I’m proud to open this opportunity to everyone.
