We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Edgar Gonzalez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Edgar, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Being a communicator has always been in my DNA. Either performing on stage, through filmmaking and now through news broadcasting… I’ve always felt like I had, if not something to say, something I can share with people perhaps, about my journey that can motivate someone to get out there, to thrive, To believe you can do anything you put your mind to.
Edgar, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For the past 4 years, I’ve worked as a Producer and Reporter for different news broadcasting latin TV Stations in Los Angeles including “Estrella Media” and “Vision Latina Network”. It’s been quite a journey finding my path in a industry like this… Everyone’s process is different. You can’t walk the journey of self-discovering if you’re wearing someone else’s shoes. Everyone’s baggage weighs differently. Be patient and trust yourself… Focusing on your goals can only take you closer and closer to reaching them. Sometimes you’ll work with people who will not share your vision, and that is OK. As long as you don’t compromise yours…
In the past couple of years, the television and film industries have evolved and transformed in many ways. As a journalist, I believe it’s important to deliver not only stories that are making headlines, but the ones you find yourself drawn to, curious or intrigued by. Have a clear idea of where you want to go and what you want to do and don’t forget to always KEEP EVOLVING.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I joined social media for fun, as a way to connect and stay in touch with people. Throughout the years Instagram, Twitter now X transformed into monster social media platforms that can make an impact for good and/or worse. If used correctly it can help you in amazing ways either to connect with your following, showcase a brand or product, or even to show your opinion on something you’re passionate about… all is acceptable when you do it with respect. In my case, I’ve taken a step back in choosing what I want to share with the world which is mostly my work and things that I feel are important to say or share.
