We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eden Rountree a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eden, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of staging a 1920’s Spanish-style home at 1929 N Hobart in Los Feliz. The moment I walked into this house, I was in love. The home exuded so much presence and character with its built-ins, arched windows, fireplace, phone booth, and intricate ceiling details. Dressing and staging it was an absolute dream. Mere words can’t do it justice.
I planned and curated every piece of furniture, art, and decor to fit the aesthetic and tell the story of the home. The final result resonated with people from all over the world. The number of people who came to the open house was record-breaking, the social media posts went viral, and the house ultimately sold for half a million above asking.
Eden, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The ultimate goal in staging is to help homeowners sell quickly and above the asking price. With every property we stage, we aim to preserve the integrity of the home and style it accordingly. Whether it be mid-century modern, old Spanish, or any other character home, we meticulously plan and curate each project to fit the aesthetic and tell the story of the house. We are character stagers for character homes.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When the colors, art, and layout of the space all click together, they breathe life into the home. It’s a magical moment when the vision in your head can finally be seen by others, allowing them to feel the story you are trying to tell.
Any advice for managing a team?
With an ever-changing schedule and the shifting landscape of the LA real estate market, staging homes requires a dedicated team to successfully pull it off. To keep the momentum going, I ensure we have a supportive and fun atmosphere. Everyone at Odin and Friday gives 110 percent, and the feedback from clients is consistently positive. It is incredibly important to let the people working with you know how valuable they are to the process. I couldn’t do this without them. (ps Sofas are really heavy and I literally couldn’t do it without them)
