We recently connected with Eden Orrick and have shared our conversation below.
Eden, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
It’s my hearts deepest desire to hold space for individuals & community in a way that we can put down some of what we are carrying & reclaim our joy, step into our power, & settle into the tranquility that is our birth right. My mission is powered by LOVE of people. I think connection to self, body, breath, spirit & community is a necessary weaving to shed the excess noise & chaos & get closer to our purpose, our essence. I believe that once we see that oneness in the eyes of our neighbors we can live from a place of service & start really stepping into the pace & flow of life. Open ourselves to what is meant for us & let go that which is holding us back. The highs & lows of our humanity are shared & if we come together as a collective, holding our neighbor in times of grief & hardship we too will be held on dark days. “We are all just walking each other home,”-Ram Dass That’s what The Meadow Connect is about. Helping one another remember who we are, day after day, supporting one another in healing, building each other up.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I dabbled in Yoga in my teens & started really connecting to the practice in College while pursing my BFA in dance. It was a lovely supplement to the rigor of my training, but I soon started feeling benefits that went beyond the physical realm. My curiosity about these ancient practices eventually lead me to India where I completed my 200hr YTT. I loved dancing, but I felt unfulfilled in my career & called to hold space for others & share the medicine of movement, rather than perform it. Along my travels dancing, connection was always the link that seemed to make everything worth it. The people I met & got to share time with gave me purpose. I think it was my destiny to find The Meadow Connect & take the torch for this serene sacred space of healing.
Connect emanates a warmth that’s felt right when you walk into our doors. I want these practices to be accessible to everyBody & we make sure people feel held & seen wherever they may find themselves on life’s journey. You’ll often see kid’s running around our lobby, doing homework while Mamma’s get some time on their mats. We are a family studio & understand life can’t stop for your healing. We have tried to maintain reasonable prices & will often use a sliding scale in order for people to maintain their practice. I want everyone to have access to these practices & it should never be something that causes a financial stress.
In the last year we have built a bustling Barre program, which is a high-intensity, low impact workout. Barre makes fitness FUN & allows us to take the physical pressure off our Yoga practice. We want people to come Connect to themselves, their faith, their breath, their body, rather that expecting a workout when they meet themselves on their mats. That’s what Barre is for! Don’t get me wrong though, some of our Yoga classes certainly are Hot & sweaty!
We offer a wide range of Yoga & Fitness classes for all ages. We host events that widen the healing arts we provide from monthly Sound Baths, to somatic therapy, Ecstatic Dance, Yoga Nidra etc… There’s a little something for everyone here at The Meadow Connect.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2021 I began my 300hr YTT. I had given up on the idea of owning a studio for the time being & had been accepted to my dream school, California Institute of Integral Studies. The spark of learning was re-lit strong & I was going to pursue my Masters in Integral Health & Wellness. The Meadow Connect had been open for a year & I had been teaching in this lovely space for about 6 months. When the offer to buy the studio came I felt like there was no way I could do it all. I didn’t feel ready financially & faced a heap of lack within myself too to carry the torch. In my mind I had given up on the dream of holding space in this particular way, but here it was right in front of me. I think the Universe often presents to us that which we long for once we finally let it go. Rather than forcing my life in a particular direction I decided to surrender. I couldn’t pass up this opportunity & I’m so glad I didn’t. Running a small business is a full time job & I didn’t have the band with to return to school, but certainly it was all meant to be. I did continue my 300hr YTT & am now 500 RYT certified. Taking on The Meadow Connect has brought me into my life’s purpose. I feel so inspired & in love with what I do & I’m so grateful for everyone who has helped me make this dream a reality.
