We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eden Bogale a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Eden thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In a saturated and highly competitive industry, consistency is key. Clients need to feel confident and clearly understand the service they’re receiving. While many businesses raise their prices simply to stay relevant, I’ve focused on building lasting trust with my clients. I’ve only adjusted prices in line with inflation or increases in product costs. As a result, when I have made price changes, I haven’t lost any clients—because they value the consistent quality of service and know exactly what to expect every time they sit in my chair.

Eden , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Eden Bogale, and I’m a hairstylist based in Atlanta, GA with over 20 years of experience. I own and operate HairStyles By Eden. I’ve always known I wanted to work in the beauty industry. Growing up in Ethiopia, beauty was an important part of our daily lives—something we practiced at home, surrounded by family and friends. Many of the techniques that were second nature to us back then are ones I’ve proudly introduced and shared here in the United States.
My passion for hair and creativity came naturally, and it’s what allows me to truly care for each of my clients. What sets me apart is that I take the time to listen to every client and tailor their service to their individual needs—always staying honest. If someone’s hair isn’t strong enough for a certain color treatment or extensions, I won’t move forward with the service. Even if it means turning down revenue, my priority is always the health of their hair and their long-term satisfaction.
I also love sharing my knowledge. I post step-by-step videos for my followers and answer as many questions as I can, helping others understand proper hair care and techniques.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Because I’m in the beauty industry, every product I use to style my clients is also available for purchase through my online store at StylesByEden.com. This allows clients to recreate their look at home using the exact same tools and products I use in the salon. For extra guidance, I also share step-by-step tutorials on my YouTube channel (Hairstyles by Eden). This not only creates an additional stream of revenue for my business but also allows me to focus more on enhancing the overall client experience.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In such a competitive industry, clients want to know exactly what to expect before they even sit in the chair that’s why I maintain a strong presence on social media. With my clients’ consent, I share detailed videos that show the full process from start to finish. I also post content highlighting style do’s and don’ts, as well as clips of me practicing new techniques.
I specialize in color and natural hair, and I make it a point to feature a wide range of hair types and current trends to educate and inspire my followers. My strategy is built on consistency and honesty two things that help build lasting trust and results that speak for themselves.
