We were lucky to catch up with Eddie Wyatt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddie , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The story behind how I became a FilmMaker and a photographer is something that I can never forget. I was 18 years old and at the time I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do when it came to a career, goals, and life itself. At that time there was a lot of pressure that I put on my self, but I knew that I wanted to be the best at what I did and impact other people. I had gone through so many different jobs researching them to where I could quote them like I was saying the alphabet. I had finally come to a decision where I wanted to become an architect. I was inspired by my uncle, by the way that he would be creative and build things on his house or around it. The other inspiration was from my Pastor, when he was building the church all the way from the ground up basically. I saw how happy they were and the joy that it brought them just to be able to see their creativity take over. When I saw this, in my head I thought that was going to be my career. It wasn’t until my cousin moved down, and told me what he wanted to do. He told me that he wanted to work with cinematographers, and actors and create movies. Be the director of his own movies and sell them all over the world, traveling and seeing different places. At first, I’m not going to lie, I really thought that it wasn’t going to be all that fun and something that I couldn’t see myself doing. He would tell me this all the time and his dream on making movies. It wasn’t until after I went to the theaters to go watch the new Aquaman movie. After seeing this movie I was amazed on how they were able to capture this movie and create it. How they were able to make the viewer feel like they were under water. How they were able to use CGI, or how they were able to control the light so much that it made the movie what it is. I was so amazed that I saw it about two more times in the exact same theater. I started to pray and as God for a sign on which career path I should take. It wasn’t long after that I saw a video on YouTube and it was the behind the scenes of Aquaman. All I knew was that there was a spark that came back when I started to watch it. As time went on my interest and desire of filmmaking grew. It grew so much that I started to make this my passion and try to learn so much about it to were I was having dreams about it, and all I could think about was how could I get into this. I bought my first camera and from then on I have been running with and doing what I love best. Being able to create something from nothing just to be able to see someones reaction, or to feel that spark of joy just from doing this is something that I knew was my calling, and something that I really found myself in.

Eddie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this passion just from one movie. I was inspired so much that I wanted to be able to create content that stood out from the rest. To be able to take an idea or a vision from inside someone head and bring them to life and show it to others is something that I cannot explain the joy that I feel when it accomplish it. When it comes to my business, I make sure that I put my all into it and make never doubt myself. I have shot many different things when it come to my business, and in many different styles. NextGenerationsFilmMakers has had the opportunity to shoot Weddings, Music Videos, Real Estate, Interview, Gym videos, skits, Church services, comedians, NFL prospect, other businesses and so much more. We also offer photography. This is also a passion my mine that I love to do whenever I have the chance to do it. Just like the the video side of NextGenerationsFilmMakers, we also have had the opportunity to shoot many different types of photo shoots. Product shots, creative shoots, Name brands, Maternity, Nature Photography, Weddings, Events, Graduations, and so much more, NextGenerationsFilmMakers goes above and beyond just for the clients and makes that special moment that means so much to them last forever. My most proudest moments is when I look back over from the time I started to now, and I am able to see all of my accomplishments. To see the client have to biggest smile and be able to relive a moment for the rest of their life is something that I am privilege to be able to be apart of.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
One thing that I know build my reputation and build my name was literally me just taking a risk and going out and trying new things. When I first started NextGeneratinsFilmMakers, I really was an introvert. I wasn’t the get up and try something new and see how it goes and be willing to make a mistake. All this change when I talk to my mentor TJ, also known as ferrovisuals. TJ told me that in life. Sometimes we have to be willing to make mistakes and learn from them. This was more than just wanting to be comfortable and stay off to the side. TJ told me that sometimes we do have to get in an uncomfortable situation just to capture the best shot. Like I had stated earlier, I am a introvert and prefer to stay to myself. I can be an extrovert when I need to be, but I just prefer to stay to myself and not talk to anybody. So when I decided that I wanted to build my reputation my career, my business, and everything else I knew that I would have to go out and try things that were new to me and uncomfortable. I knew that I needed to go to where people were and just literally go out and be Eddie. There has been many times that I have been at a photo shoot and I’ve had countless amount of people walk up to me and ask for my business card and say that I was doing a fantastic job. The first time that I heard somebody say I was doing a fantastic job. Something triggered in my head to where I knew that I was going to go after everything that I wanted, and that I knew that I was good at what I did. Going out and working with other photographers and videographers have put me in a place to where I have made connections that have allowed me to have Photo shoot opportunities that I didn’t think that I would get it for another year or two. Going out to events here in San Antonio Texas, and just about anywhere is something that I would say really helped me make connections and really get some light on my name. Running into music artist, athletes, Other, business owners, local big-name people, and others have really helped me build my reputation. This has helped me in my market, because I was able to show other people what I was capable of doing, and how I was able to bring to life what they desired at that moment.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The story that illustrates my resilience would be the story of how I started off. When I first knew that I wanted to be a photographer and a filmmaker I knew that I needed to have some help. I didn’t know where to start or how to even start my own business. In the beginning, I was so desperate to become a full-time photographer and videographer that I was willing to work for somebody for free, I had reached out to so many different photographers and videographers and ask them if they could share with me what they knew and teach me. I didn’t have all the money in the world and I knew that everywhere I looked somebody was always saying that you need money to start. But after being able to sit back and realize that yes, money does help you, you are able to reach a potential without it. There was a time when I first started my business that I almost gave up because everything that I did seem to not work, and it seem to just fall back down when I would start to build something. But that spark that I had when I found out that I wanted to do this was always there and it never died out. There was times where I would stay up till three or even 4 o’clock in the morning. Just trying to figure out how to start a business. I had so many entrepreneur friends all around me, and seeing them grow, was exciting to me, but also at the same time Discouraging because I was unable to grow in my business and have the opportunities that I wanted. As time went on, I was able to make connection every once in a while that would continue to keep that spark alive. It wasn’t until my best friend which is now my wife, would always push me and tell me to keep going and don’t wait on nobody else. Just be what you need to be and when you need to be it. I started to see my name, grow and see how I was able to find my style which I am still finding today. It paid off in the long run because I can say that my mentor TJ, also known as ferrovisuals. Really came in and show me what I needed and how to continue to grow my business.
