We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eddie Mace. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eddie below.
Hi Eddie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Legacy, to me, is not something I want solely focused on my name. I believe legacy goes beyond yourself. Legacy is in the work people do to benefit the less fortunate, the way they raise their children, and the gifting and service they provide others. Ultimately, I want my legacy, or rather the legacy I influence, to be Christ-like and to follow my faith. If there’s one detail I want to be remembered about me, it’s that I was a son of God first.

Eddie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the Media Producer at Breakthrough Sound Recording Studio and Media Company, in Valley View, OH! My role pertains to that of photo and video services to our vast clientele, as well as serving internal needs at the studio. I maintain the company website as well. My work is heavily influenced by film and media, concerning the professional output and way I compose my images. When it comes to how I work with my clients, however, I am very adamant about creating a comfortable, communicative, and creative experience. This can be as simple as offering a bottle of water, or taking initiative to bring in furniture (not folding chairs; FURNITURE) for my client’s family to be comfortable in as they attend and offer support during a recording, photoshoot, etc. My week to week consists of meetings, website work, photoshoots, videoshoots (such as podcasts, music videos, mic drops, social content, etc.), and events. I do work both in-studio and off-site. My personal favorite projects to work on are portraits and live event coverage. I enjoy capturing raw emotion and performances.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story that could illustrate resilience in a time of uncertainty would be when I made the decision to leave my day job, and go full-time in the creative industry. Back in 2023, I was working as an assistant at Breakthrough Sounds, before I became the Media Producer, as well as a part-time cook. I worked as a cook for 6 months, primarily for the pay. Ultimately, I left due to hitting my limit. Between poor managing, low quality maintenance, and the work environment, I made the decision to give in my two weeks, and pursue media full-time. It was not a light decision, and it was a decision I financially had to prepare myself for, but I can thankfully say that I have not required any other form of work to support myself and feel fulfilled in my career.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal as a creative and as an artist is to glorify God. He gave me these gifts; why NOT dedicate them to him? I had to redefine what my role looked like as a poet and spoken word artist. I realized that, with poetry having such a root in emotion and interpretation, I needed to be more mindful of what I wrote and spoke about. I have to pivot from the subject matter that wasn’t serving me and building me up.
