We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eddie Cole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Eddie, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
When it comes to heroes I’m blessed to have 2 genuine people who have been with me through most of my career I appreciate the support and lessons they’ve taught me along the way. Not only heroes but great friends of mine and they’re Sachem Dahn & David Kromah. I learned more on the creative and fashionable aspect from Sachie the ability to be comfortable with your own swag and also expressing your creativity without restrictions. I learned more on the business and customer service side from from David (DK Shoots) he helped me get comfortable with studio and commercial work along with understanding lighting and retouching. My first shoot with Sachie I really enjoyed the aesthetic of film and vintage photos and he inspired me to take on that style of photography. It’s great to have genuine people who also share game with you and critique your work for your best interest in the field of work. We also have brands that we’ve collab and released. As of right now I’m currently working to finish a long overdue collection we’ve been working on. Since his passing I’ve been searching for the motivation to get this special collection with out him. All I can say as of right now about the collection is “REAL FRIENDS”. When I reconnect with DK it was a blessing in disguise. We did a Photoshoot for a brand I was trying to brand ambassador for “SpaceBorn Corp” based out of Houston. We chatted about each others work and how it’s been in the field over the years from start to where we were at. After the shoot we picked each others brains and I proposed a partnership that lead to us continuing our friendship and business partnership. I appreciate the balance between both. He’s been supportive and vice versa. We’ve been able to secure 2 studio spaces and collab with multiple influencers and creatives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Eddie Cole from Minneapolis, MN. I’m a Creative Director. I grew up and started off designing clothing and creating graphic arts. My inspiration started during my childhood. I wasn’t much of a tv kid, I wanted to build and create things physically and digitally. I’m a multifaceted creative that specializes in modeling, styling, photography, videography also fashion designing. Through my career I would highlight my discipline as a skill that I feel has taken me from freelancer to a more establishing standpoint. I’m currently working on an official portfolio for the time being I feel like I have a strong social presence and my work shows my creatives and also my work ethic when it comes to the passion of my respective crafts. I feel like most of my customers appreciate my delivery of quality production and timing. I think something that sets me apart from others is my ability to adapt I can play any role in the creative world hands on or behind the scenes also my collaborative skills. I’m most proud of what I’ve learned and been able to share with others. I want clients, followers and fans to know if you book Eddie Cole your booking the luxury of skills and direction that whatever you have in mind is possible and it will be brought to life.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My vision of being an established creative and entrepreneur is my main goal. I feel like the goal for most is to get signed or contracted within the industry but I would like to have a foundation where I can also present opportunities to others while still maintaining my own creative process and partner ships.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn that sometimes it’s not always about the money and more about the passion of your craft that later translates to revenue. I was fixed at the beginning to create to make large amounts of money as time went on I saw that promotion and marketing are huge factors and also play a role in the cash flow within any career field. Once I understood the principles of business it made things easier for me when it came to the process of transactions from giving out a product or service.
