We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ed Gage a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ed, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I saw the movie Back To The Future as a little kid, I immediately wanted to pick up a guitar and act in movies. That movie alone changed my life as a kid. Seeing Michael J. Fox perform Johnny B. Goode and hearing Eddie Van Halen in the movie introduced me to the world of music and film.
Ed, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been working in Hollywood for almost 7 years and have have been immersed in the world of acting since I was 17 years old. My journey began with dedicated studies in acting throughout high school and college, where I pursued a film major and delved into courses related to acting and film. Graduating in 2017, I made the bold move to Hollywood to pursue my dreams.
Upon my arrival, I quickly made waves, securing many lead, supporting, and stunt roles across various mediums, including television, film, and theatre. This diverse array of roles has showcased my versatility as an actor, allowing me to embody various characters.
Notable productions in my repertoire include “The Mandalorian,” “Westworld,” Amazon’s “Hunters,” “Pact Of Vengeance,” a music video for Cypress Hill and much more.
In my journey, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside and learning from legendary figures in the industry, such as Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Mark Wahlberg, Danny DeVito, James Marsden, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jon Favreau, Malcolm McDowell, and many others.
Beyond acting, in the world of music I have collaborated, recorded, and/or performed with current and former members of renowned international acts, including Anthrax, W.A.S.P., Yngwie Malmsteen, Lita Ford, Grim Reaper, Raven, Vicious Rumors, Chastain, and Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductee, Melle Mel.
Additionally, I’m a martial artist, currently training in Tae Kwon Do and holding a first-degree black belt in the discipline. I have also explored various other forms of martial arts and have had the opportunity to train and/or work with iconic figures such as Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez, Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, Leo Fong, and more.
For me acting is not just about showcasing my physical prowess as a martial artist or musician on screen; it’s about demonstrating my ability to inhabit diverse roles and captivate audiences with my versatility as an actor.
I took a leap of faith and I’d be a liar if I said it was easy since. In fact showbiz and entertainment is one of the toughest industries to be involved in. But it’s tremendously important to surround yourself with likeminded and positive people that want to see you grow and progress.
I’m always available to collaborate, act in movies and TV shows, perform live, make public appearances, appear at conventions and much more. I was born for this. And I only look forward to collaborate with more people and make more connections and build up the credits and resume. I have no intention to stop until I make it to the top.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To make it to the top in the entertainment business. I have no intention to stop the momentum and drive that keeps me going.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was one time I auditioned for a commercial as a Rock Musician to perform guitar that was going to be aired throughout Asia and Europe. I came second in line and I came very close to getting the role but unfortunately lost it to someone else. I won’t lie I was very distraught and disappointed that I didn’t get it. But then, an opportunity of the lifetime came my way. Getting to work on the Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian. I’ve learned in this business, when one door closes another one will open. To never be disappointed that you didn’t get the one opportunity that you wanted, because another one will come.
