We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ed Gage. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ed below.
Hi Ed, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always been a huge fan of entertainment for as long as a I can remember. Especially film and music. When I first saw a movie called Back To The Future as a 3 year old, it changed my life forever. I wanted to become an actor and a musician and do movies. By the time I was 24 and graduated from Florida Atlantic University, I relocated to Hollywood to make my dreams a reality.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into this industry by taking a leap of faith. I had no experience in Hollywood productions until I arrived, only small budget and independent productions. The second I arrived I began networking and self submitting myself for Films, TV Shows, Commercials and more to get my foot into the door, get first hand experience and was self representing myself since I didn’t have an agent at the time. Has it been an easy journey? Not at all. It takes a lot of dedication, hunger and motivation to try and build up especially in the film industry. Let alone the music industry and any industry in general. But reflecting on everything I’ve done since I first arrived in Hollywood in 2017, I’m tremendously proud and happy with everything I have accomplished so far. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work as an actor, stuntman and producer in film working on numerous TV Shows, Films, Commercials (both independent and mainstream) and more such as The Mandalorian, Westworld, Hunters, Gucci Eyewear, and many others under production companies and distributors such as Disney, Netflix, Lucasfilm, Hulu, Amazon, Fuse TV, TubiTV, Lionsgate and so on! Four years being in Los Angeles, I finally got signed with an agency and am still signed with the same agency. I am going to continue to build up my resume until I get the opportunity for the lead breakout role to happen. Which I know will happen if I’ve managed to make it this far. I don’t give up easily nor believe in the word “quit”.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Whether if I make it to the top or not, I have no plans to stop trying. When I see my heroes, colleagues and friends at the top or getting to the top it inspires me to work harder to get there. I won’t stop until I get there. I want to know that I had some impact on this world. Even if just a few people tell me (which they have) “because of you I never gave up”, “you inspired me to do this” I know that I have made a difference in the world somehow even if it was just on one person.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The people I get to meet in the process. Whether if it’s new people/colleagues, people with celebrity status, or to make new friends in general. The resources you gather and the people you meet along the way make an impact on my journey somehow. Of course, there’s some bad eggs here and there and of course people that may not be pleasant to work with, but that doesn’t stop me. You’re going to encounter people like that all your life, so never let it impact your goals.
