We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Echay Jackson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Echay , thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started my business 2 years ago, in hindsight I wish I would have started sooner simply because I think I would have a larger clientele. Starting sooner I believe I would have the food truck I’m planning and saving for now. When I started my business it was during the height of Covid most offices and restaurants were closed or take out only and I seized the opportunity to have great tasting food available for pick up and delivery.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For the new and future customers of the Pineappleladyatl , I urge you to taste one of these amazing pineapple bowls filled with yellow rice , peppers and onions , cabbage and your choice of protein Shrimp, Steak , chicken or salmon or all 3. It’s a carribean hibachi experience. I use fresh seafood and the pineapples are made fresh to order. Often times I get customers who are allergic to pineapples, so you can surely get your food without the Pineapple. I have been in the hospitality industry over 10 years. We believe in quality and pleasing all of our customers. We cater weddings , events , brunches , date nights and even funerals. In any event we are on time and ready to serve one of the most unique and flavorful meals you’ll ever eat
How did you build your audience on social media?
I attribute building my social media presence on paying for promotion, I was apprehensive at first but I paid @bigsexyofficial for promotion and within the same the day the amazing @TSMADISON was in my dm ready to taste the pineapple and we have remained in contact ever since. So I deem marketing very valuable. Pay the $50 or $100 you won’t regret it
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I learned to get my deposit upfront as well as to not give discounts to family and friends business is business and you’ll lose money in the end . Trust your instincts and always have great customer service or the internet will ruin you
