Ebony , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.

If I was starting over I would hire at least two or three people to help me push out stories. I would also have a website where I can exclusively drop tea and get paid for it. I will build a stronger fan base so that way I can profit from the stories that I put out, I would be more consistent I will pay for promo to market my business. I would be a better relationship with publicist and I would financially back my business more if I had it.

Ebony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Ebonisha But everyone calls me Day Got the Juice I’m 29 was born in Brooklyn New York but was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. A little background about me I always loved music Hip Hop and R&B has always been the love of my life. What even gave me even more passion to purse a career in the music industry was my Father was Ice-T bodyguard for years in being around it I was always sooo fantasize about it. I love seeing the happiness in my father’s face to do business with ice in being on the stage doing photoshoot a magical experience that I knew I wanted to join when I got older. Now as I got older things changed I felt like I should take a new avenue because I felt like I couldn’t sing In a lot of life events happen ended up in foster care I needed a new outlet to express myself in let all my anger out so I started writing music in I fell in love with it so that’s what I did until Around the age of 16 I had gotten an opportunity to become a social media manager for one of my favorite artist at the time who had passed away. His family loved me in thought that since his fan base respected me that it would be good to do some social media management in give updated on behalf of the family Etc I did that for about 4 years. I decided to part ways with them then I went on to be an independent artist manager I had a total of 3 artist I soon learn it wasn’t for me after doing it for 3 years. The sparkle that clicked in made me here to stay I also liked to stay updated on the new celebrity tea. I loved staying updated I follow all major media outlets one day I noticed how some blogs were bias and that posting certain celebrity tea. And I felt like that was suspicious So I had decided to start my own blog in give more accurate and updated celebrity. Growing frustrated from kept getting deleted I almost gave up until an opportunity to work with another media company came up and I thought it written for them which gave me an opportunity to learn the business even more it was a beautiful opportunity because I learned the ends and outs of being a Content creator. It was so much that I didn’t know that I was able to learn and being able to interact with the public in certain celebrities and getting accurate news was important to me I fell in love with becoming an journalist. I knew that was my spot being in the background but still in the spot at the same time this is what I knew I wanted to do I love it. So I stayed with that company for a little bit my foster mother had passed away so I decided to walk away from them I moved miles away from home I just felt like I needed a hug break from life at that point. It was the best thing I could have done because that’s was made me picked back up blogging for myself working for myself i rebranded my Blog. I started my own online boutique in just went hard and came back stronger. The proudest moments that crazy I didn’t even get to enjoy because I didn’t know at the time that it happened. BET, THE SOURCE MAGAZINE so many different big media outlets companies had reposted one of my stories that I had written about Cardi B in offset at the time I was still grieving my mom I had flew from Indianapolis to New York to help my cousin take care of our grandma who was battling with dementia at that time it was soo much going on that I was only blogging to hide the pain in things that I was dealing with I didn’t care about not making any money at that time I just needed an outlet and also I was doing something that I loved my grandma had passed away I ended up back homeless so much had happened so around the time my blog was going viral in finally getting the Recognition that I deserve I couldn’t even enjoy it because it was soo much going on in my world that I didn’t even know but that was my proudest moments because when I finally got a chance to see it in sit down and process everything I was extremely proud of myself. Only thing with getting the Recognition that you deserve is of course the haters in the crazy fans of the celebrities that your writing about. They can be soo annoying at times because they feel like they can’t do any wrong in their eyes who are you to report on my favorite it can be erky they can really get on your nerves even when you have proof in great reliable sources they still try to find ways to tell you that your lying in this can’t be true. The best thing you can do is not go back and forth with them eventually everything you reported on will come out. You just have to make sure as a journalist that your stories that your writing up is 100% accurate in true so once the story’s start to generate you will be certified as an reliable source I also remember reporting that khole Kardashian was having a baby via surrogate before any other major media outlets had reported it everyone told me I was lying in dumb 9 days later TMZ reported it in everyone was Crickets. That’s how you shut the haters up as long as your news is real can’t nobody out yet it’s literally nothing they can say about your credibility. The main thing I want people to know about me in my blog is that I’m not a bully im not here to bully any entertainer celebrity I’m simply here to give 100% accurate news. Report on what I love help underground artist/entertainers comedian performers etc as well give them a platform for their voices to be heard share my opinions and views but also leave my personal opinions and views out of the news that I report on celebrities it’s a difference we can share laughs in jokes and different things. I also separate that. that’s a lot of problems some of these other content creators have sometimes they let their dislikes for a certain entertainers get in the way of their credibility to report stories for example if I don’t like Apples I’m not going to sit on the internet all day everyday basing Apples just because I personally don’t like it because at the end of the day Apple is still human Apple still has a career in Apple can sue me for defamation of character because what I’m reporting is not true now why would I wanna do that why would I wanna mess up my credibility as a blogger I want people to be able to come on my site in read the stories like on TMZ in know that what she say is 100% in not oh I can’t really support what she saying because she’s a biased blogger in only report on negative things that’s not true about this person or no other major media outlets are even talking about the news she posting it can be a bit much sometimes because when you know you’re doing everything right you still sometimes gotta put your big foot down because every now and again you got that one crazy delusional Fanbase that sometimes you just gotta check but still give them love.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I first started off just posting celebrity tea that was just kind of already on Instagram but I learned quickly that people like funny and cute videos. I also learn that people likes drama as well like for example if there is a video circulating the Internet causing controversy like a mother talking about abortions or same sex marriages etc those are the things I noticed quickly that would catch people attention so I would try to post as much of those videos following up with celebrity news and Gossip.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

What helped me build my reputation is the stamp that I got from the other major media outlets reposting in adding on to the news that I reported on once other big media companies give you that stamp normally people feel very comfortable coming to you for updated news because they knows it’s going to be accurate.
