Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ebony Molock. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ebony, thanks for joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
The most heart warming moment in my Yoga career was at the Asheville Yoga Festival ( Now called Love Shine Play festival). It was my very first time teaching at a festival let alone out of town.
I was super excited and even ended up collaborating with a wonderful musician. I think what touched my heart was not only were Yogis of all shapes, sizes and colors there, but even those who were less fortunate got the opportunity to practice yoga with me. Once the class was over, a few people walked up to me telling me how the class was wonderful, but also how life changing and eye opening it was. Some people laughed, others cried, but what made a difference was that I was able to make a difference in those who attended the class.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Back in 2004 I was diagnosed with anxiety at the age of 9. I remember as a young child struggling with school, friends and sometimes my surroundings. I was always worried about if I was smart enough, if people liked me for me, and so on and so fourth.
Fast forward from graduating K-12 successfully, I ended up going to college. That I when I discovered my first Yoga class. I can remember how tough it was the first class I took, but because I have a competitive spirit, I kept coming to class continuously. Since then, I came to the realization how Yoga made me feel mentally, physically and sooner or later spiritually.
My confidence boosted and from there I decided to drop out of college to attend the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Trust me when I say, this Yoga school was a game changer and a huge eye opener for me. I knew after seeing other instructors, my teachers that taught me and going to several Yoga retreats that this was something I wanted to pursue.
I graduated from Kripalu August of 2017 and was always on a journey to find what was next. So many questions popped up in my head. Was I going to be a good instructor? Would I remember the tools and life changing feelings Kripalu gave me? Will people like me?
I remember reverting back to that little girl who was anxious about being liked or not getting anywhere with what I was doing, but one thing I could never say, was I didn’t try.
I auditioned at my first Yoga studio 3 weeks after graduating Kripalu and from then on I took my gifts everywhere in the state of GA.
For 5 years I have been teaching and educating people about the power of Yoga and how it changed and saved my life. I’ve hosted many self healing workshops including women circles and Reiki healing for those who are in need of mental and spiritual clarity. My job as a Yoga teacher and Reiki healer is to hold up a mirror to get other people to come from thinking they aren’t capable to thinking they are capable and beyond. My job is to get someone to see who they are and who they are meant to be.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Set. Your. Boundaries.
When I first got my certification, I was so excited to jump into any and every opportunity there was thrown at me.
Can you imagine having a full time job in Peachtree City, GA and driving all the way to Midtown Atlanta or Fayetteville to teach Yoga 3-4 times a week and then coming home to only have time ti shower, eat late and go to sleep? Yeah, didn’t think so – Haha.
I had to unlearn saying yes to every opportunity or what felt like one and outweigh the pros and cons. Asking questions like: ‘is it worth it?’ Will this make money?’ ‘Will this cost my mental health?’
I would encourage any yogi who is just starting out to really think about an opportunity and if it makes sense. Exhaustion and being overwhelmed in this industry is real, so always make sure to take care of yourself. If you don’t, you will not be able to take care of others.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Being my most authentic self.
