We recently connected with Ebony Grover and have shared our conversation below.

Ebony, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.

My partner and I were very clear that we wanted to own a fitness studio but were still toggling with the idea of owning a franchise vs an independent studio, should we build something completely new or purchase an existing business. Should we open a studio in S. Tampa, New Tampa, Wesley Chapel? So many options and we were open to them all. There were so many questions and details up in the air when my partner received a phone call from an old friend. She owned a boutique studio in Carrolwwod Village and was in the process of selling it. On a whim we decided to go visit the studio and take a look at the space- we both thought “why not”. Walking into the studio was a decision that changed both of our lives. The space had everything we were looking for plus some extra bells and whistles. It was downright stunning, The space was large enough to accommodate multiple disciplines, spin, yoga, barre and bounce- while still having that boutique look and feel. There were luxurious bathrooms state-of-the-art equipment and even space for kids to hang out while mom/dad took a class. The space was centrally located and clean as a whistle. It was truly love at first sight and we both knew immediately that we had found our new studio! From that moment on it was full speed ahead and within 4 short months, we were Fitness studio owners- living out our dream!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Ignite is the product of two women dedicated to providing a well-rounded fitness experience for all; one where clients can have their choice of classes, each one providing a true full body workout.

While teaching together at a studio offering a very specific type of fitness classes, these women envisioned a space of their own that could offer it all; cycle, barre, yoga and more. Ignite IS that studio! It is an inviting space with state-of-the-art equipment, talented instructors and a spa-like atmosphere not found in large gyms. We even have an area for kids to “hang out’ while mom and dad get a workout in. With classes offered in barre, bounce, cycle, and yoga, Ignite is truly the one-stop shop it set out to be.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?

Resilience and confidence are key to succeeding as well as keeping up to speed on the current market. Markets change very quickly and you have to be ready to change as well so staying on top of new trends is vital to success. Staying customer focused and really listening to clients intently is key to understanding and creating needed changes to continually service clients to help them achieve their goals.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Ignite’s reputation is still building however those who know about our studio absolutely love it! First and foremost we have an amazing group of instructors who the clients adore. They absolutely love what they do and continually push each and every client to stretch themselves physically while encouraging them along the way.

The other reputation builder has been the word of mouth and review testimonials from our clients! The upscale boutique experience of having a super clean space, fresh lavender scent in the air and cold eucalyptus towels at the end of every workout are our signature services that clients enjoy and have shared these details with their family and friends.

Our goal has been to create both a welcoming environment and an amazing workout experience for all clients old and new!
