We were lucky to catch up with Ebony Dickens recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ebony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I have found that the 2 most important components of being successful is passion and consistency. If you are not passionate about what you are doing then you won’t see the purpose in it, which means purpose will not be fulfilled. Consistency has definitely worked for me in my career. Consistency builds trust and trust builds loyalty. Most of my clientele has been with me for many years and because they trust me, they don’t mind referring me to others. Referrals and word of mouth is what keeps my business successful.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2019 I decided to rebrand my business. I changed my business name and and entity. I was on a great path with expanding by adding products to pair with my services. Then in 2020 (Boom) the pandemic happened, which forced me not to renew my lease at the building that I had occupied for 5 years. I then moved my business home to get back on track during and after the pandemic. Once the beauty industry was allowed to resume servicing the public, I serviced my clients from my in-home salon suite for approximately 1 year and a half. In February 2022. I experienced a house fire and lost everything (my home, my salon suite, and my inventory. I was then force to live in a hotel for 3 months while putting the pieces of my life back together. In May of 2022 everything began to fall back in place. I found a new home and a moved into to my new storefront salon location.
