We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ebony Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ebony below.
Hi Ebony, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I absolutely wish that I would have started this business earlier. I formally began Potty Camp a little over 2 years ago and I had no idea the impact that it would have. Potty training is something that many many families struggle with and to be able to relieve that burden is priceless. I’ve developed a bond with many families all over the metroplex and it feels amazing to know that I’ve changed the dynamic of the household in just a few days.
Ebony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have actually been working with small children for 16 years, but most recently teaching preschool. While working as an early childhood educator, I was nicknamed the Potty Whisperer. Now I run my own business that provides In-Home Potty Training for toddlers with no parent involvement. I normally spend 7-8 hours per day over the span of 2-5 days with the child. Once the Boot Camp is complete, the child is completely done with diapers and pull-ups with the exception of sleeping.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Luckily for me, I do not have any business partners. This is such a personal service, I’d rather not have anyone with work with me. I can only guarantee my level of professionalism and genuine love for children.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to basically unlearn everything that I thought I knew when Covid struck in early 2020. I has just started Potty Camp and everything came to a screeching halt for about 4-6 months. During this time, I think everyone had to unlearn everything that we thought we knew and figure out what was best for our family and our own mental health in that moment.
