We recently connected with Ebony Bennett and have shared our conversation below.
Ebony , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful one must understand what that mean to them. To explain success looks different to each individual so to be successful you must be able to describe, explain, and identify what your success looks like to you. If my idea of success is a big house and lot of vehicles and and I have obtained that then I may consider myself successful. But if your idea of success don’t include that and include having stocks and bonds then I may not be considered successful in your eyes. However, whatever you identify as success it will all require one to remain consistent and dedicated to the goal.

Ebony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a mom of four daughters and I love doing parties. Since my daughters first birthday my kids parties have always been major events in our family. Due to covid my idea of a birthday party for my nine year old looked different but because I saw the effects of covid on my children I knew I had to make this birthday party special. Even if that meant she would only be able to celebrate with her three other siblings. So I searched my area for something to do with her and nothing was available. I had seen those wooden A frame tents before but I had no idea where to get those in Michigan. No one that I knew of at the time was offering this service and I couldn’t buy them anywhere. So I asked my husband, Pastor Steven Bennett, to build these tents for her party, and he did. I had no knowledge and no desire of starting this business my only goal was to make my daughter smile during her birthday because this was a tough season for us all. But after he built the A-frame tents I added balloons, I created personalized pillows for her sisters and cousin, we added lights and it was the best sleepover ever. I posted her party on Facebook and Instagram and my inbox lite up. The following week was my other daughters birthday and she wanted the exact same thing. My husband perfected the built of these tents and I changed the theme of her party and then I posted her party and again my inbox blew up. This is when Sleep in Style Party Rentals was birth in the middle of a pandemic just because I wanted to give my daughter a great birthday party.
Since December 2020 we have been able to offer over 100 families luxury sleepovers. We have expanded to not only luxury sleepovers but we offer luxury picnics, movie nights, slime parties and painting parties for children and adults. We have a number of different packages with over 25 themes to choose from and we take the pressure off of you. We basically plan your entire party. We provide, invitations, gifts for your guest, games for the night and you can even add food as well. My husband and I work very hard to see smiles on our clients face and it’s been such a blessing to service the community in this way. The phenomenon of luxury sleepovers is becoming a huge thing but what I honestly believe stands us out from others is because we really plan every birthday party as if it was for our children’s party, as if it was our date night, and as if it was for ourselves. In addition many company’s offer teepees, which are great, but we are able to offer both teepees and A-frame tents with a number of different options.
I am a huge component of faith and I believe nothing just happens so with my business I have been able to bring joy and happiness to people that I may have never encountered if it wasn’t for Sleep In Style Party rentals. I get the most joy when we have repeat customers and referrals because it lets me know that we made an impact in some way. People who are creative are such an inspiration to me and to be able to join with some of the greats and share my gift is an honor.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The best strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. They say the best form of a complement is a referral and most of my clients come from referrals. I have people who refer us and never have even booked a party yet. So if you stay true to your core values in your business and you remain cordial during services others those clients will do the work for you.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my consistency within the business helped with build my reputation. In addition staying visible helped with my reputation. My business was birthed when a lot of us was sheltering in place so in order for people to understand of know what we offered I had to stay visible. I have to post my website often, I had to post pictures often, I had to respond to every inbox, email, and even shared post and that was the foundation of the company’s reputation.
