Embarking on my academic journey at the Los Angeles Film School was a decision steeped in profound personal significance and resilience. Following the heartbreaking loss of my mother to stage 4 breast cancer on June 5th, 2023, my world was irrevocably altered. Her passing marked not just the loss of a beloved parent but also the crumbling of a personal commitment I had made to myself—to graduate college before she passed away.

In the wake of this profound grief, I initially attempted to channel my aspirations into the medical field, a path I had envisioned as a way to honor her legacy. However, I quickly realized that my passion no longer resided within the medical domain. The courses, aimed at preparing me for a career I thought I wanted, felt unfulfilling, and I struggled to find meaning in the studies that once sparked my interest.

This period of soul-searching and recalibration led me to the Los Angeles Film School, where I pivoted towards a field that ignited my true passion: graphic design. It was here, amid the creative fervor and challenging curriculum, that I found a renewed sense of purpose and direction. Starting school after my mother’s death imbued my educational pursuits with a deeper significance—I wasn’t just studying for a degree; I was honoring her memory by following my true calling.

Now, maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA, I am steadfast in my commitment to excel academically, aiming to sustain this standard of excellence until my projected graduation in 2027.
