We recently connected with Eboni Talley and have shared our conversation below.
Eboni, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Love HUE to Life is very dear to my heart (pun intended!), a play on words AND has a MULTI-FACETED meaning…. Keep reading..
First of all, I am a LICENSED Cosmetologist and a Hair Colorist. The word “Hue” means color or shade of a color, also referred to as the pure spectrum color (i.e, red, yellow, blue, orange, green, violet).
I LOVE creating colors for my guests in the salon AND I LOVE the confidence it brings out of them!
Second, everyone who knows me – whether it’s been for years or just meeting me, KNOWS that I was and STILL AM a DADDY’S GIRL 💕.
Therefore, the other meaning behind my business name is actually one of the first play on words with my father, who’s name is/was Eric HUGH Talley.
My father passed away back in 2019, and he ALWAYS watched over me…. My tribute to him is to always include him in everything that I do which includes making sure that even though he’s not PHYSICALLY with me… He is ALWAYS covering, protecting and watching over me!!! Hence… LOVE HUE (HUGH) to LIFE💞
FINALLY, the third and FINAL meaning behind my business name is a phrase I have ALWAYS used when saying farewell or as a pleasantry to those I care about– I LOVE YOU to LIFE!!
Well, with that in mind … I love EACH and EVERY one of my clients that have come into my salon, who have trusted me with their tresses! So I always let them know (whether as a signature or directly) that “I love YOU to life” and I pray NOTHING BUT Blessings and GREATNESS over their lives – – because without them, I would not be the successful business that I am today!
Eboni, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
On August 19, 2024, I completed my NEWEST career endeavor and became a CERTIFIED Functional Trichologist, through the ILLUSTRIOUS American Academy of Hair and Scalp Disease🥳
I can TRULY say that successfully completing the INTENSIVE 18 month program is one of my MOST proudest moments. It was NOT for the faint at heart, yet I MADE IT!!!
I can also add that in conjunction with me being a Certified Functional Trichologist, I was granted FULL board Certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner, through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners!
I do NOT take my certifications lightly as it is my GOAL to assist and support as MANY individuals I can on their journey of HEALTH loss… Yes, you read that correctly… health loss,
Your hair loss indicates there is something deeper below the surface that is alerting you that your body is out of alignment, out of balance or the word we like to use, no longer functioning at a level of homeostasis.
Although the individuals my seek out my services and come to me because they have a “hair loss issue”, they QUICKLY discover that what they are experiencing is WAY deeper than the fibers/strands growing out of their scalp.
What they end up discovering is they are seeing the symptoms that result from health loss and not hair loss. I am their answer to getting them on the Holistic Journey to “Wellness and Recovery”, simply because I practice “Health”… NOT Medicine….
Continuing with my story, I officially became a legal functioning entity in the world of Trichology, in 2025.
I am the owner of Love Hue to Life (LH2L) Wellness and Recovery Clinic, which provides in person and virtual services.
I am also a LICENSED Cosmetologist of almost 15 years of Love Hue to Life Hair Studio in Michigan.
I am VERY passionate about my craft and the many individuals whose hair I am blessed to touch. I am BEYOND BLESSED to be able to bridge the gap between Cosmetology and Trichology. As I have learned from my educator and mentor, and I definitely agree….”Trichology is the NEW Cosmetology.”
As a Functional Trichologist, I am trained to utilize my knowledge of physiological mapping of the body systems to discover and uncover- “Get to the root cause”- of your concerns regarding hair loss.
My mission as a Certified Functional Trichologist in addition to discovering the root cause of your hair loss by going on a fact finding mission to obtain answers for you.
It is my goal to educate, support, and empower YOU! I will ensure that you understand that the issue which brought you into the clinic, extends WELL beyond hair growth and into your overall health.
My ULTIMATE goal is to RESTORE balance (homeostasis) in the body. Couple that with a welcoming, healthy environment on your scalp, your intentional decision to implement the recommendations of your individualized, holistic protocol… All of these components can lead to hair restoration and recovery!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My entire life has been a story of resilience.
From becoming a teenage mother at the age of 18, to attending college and obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, when it was almost unheard of that a young mother would have her child with her in college, all the while carrying a FULL classload, having multiple jobs and handling ALL of my collegiate responsibility in an exemplary manner.
Continuing in resilience, I walked away from what many would deem a good government job after 7 years – to pursue my passion of becoming a cosmetologist.
My son was then 15 years old and funds were beyond depleted. Yet, my determination and focus and very strong faith in God allowed me to go to school again, obtain my cosmetology license, grow and develop into the artist / trichologist you see today!
At one point of my career, I opened a full service open floor salon, which stayed open for 7 years. During those 7 years, my business partner was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to leave the salon for an extended period of time.
There was also an additional shift in partnership and management which extended over a good length of time, which had me in the salon being the owner and sole operator, by myself!!
What could have broke me and had me shut my doors then, did not win! I bounced back, ran my business until the day I decided to close the open floor salon, following the passing of my father, back in 2019. Which was yet ANOTHER example of my “bounce back” abilities.
I did not stay down then either, and ultimately found my way into a private studio within the Sola Salons brand.
I have officially been In my current studio for over 5 years! My life is nothing but a story of resilience and my success today indicates how far I’ve come….. If I can do it, you can too!!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele, is word of mouth advertisement. They generally say this is your best form of advertisement anyway; I am just truly blessed that based on the satisfaction of those people that sit in my chair, they are compelled to share their experience with others.
There is no EXACT formula to this success, outside of the mantra, “Treat people the way YOU would like to be treated.” I am VERY confident in the manner in which I treat my guest, and based on this, caring for their hair AND caring for them as a whole individual, influences what they share with others.
I feel as though I am a people person. At the same time, I remain aware and in tune with my clients for whatever their needs are during their appointment time. I can be a listening ear and offer advice (if asked!), talk, laugh, joke, sing AND even be QUIET— providing them exemplary cosmetological and trichological services. This translates into the growth of my clientele.
