We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ebonee B a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ebonee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I started out as self taught with my skills prior to adding more knowledge from different sources. I took a risk when starting my business which included crochet, and custom gifts. I wasn’t sure how things would go and if I’d really make money from it. I still bet on myself and went for it, along the way there were challenges and even times when money may not have been what I wanted but as with anything the rewards aren’t always right away. You have to put in time, effort, and even sweat and tears. I started doing yoga 10 years ago self taught at home, I hadn’t even thought of taking up teacher training until I had been asked my a few friends who were interested in me teaching them. I had an online friend let me know about a free yoga teacher training and I knew that was a sign for me to take that next step. I truly enjoyed learning everything that goes along with yoga because it’s more than just the physical that makes yoga so great and effective. Yoga and crochet helped me manage my PTSD. They both helped me to get out of my head and to channel that energy into something beautiful whether it’s gentle movements, or creating beautiful things. I took the yoga teacher training so that I can help share with others what I used to help me and in hopes that it helps someone else the way it did with me. I also started making herbal products for health and wellness, ranging from skin care with oils and soaps, scented oils that were good for relaxation, focus, etc. Hair care oils, oils and tinctures, wellness teas that were good for health as well. I’m a firm believer that there are so many natural alternatives and I want to help educate and provide those resources.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a single mom of 3 and part of why I started my small business is because I needed the extra income to help support my family. I love being of service to others whether it’s a kind word, a gift that’ll brighten their day, a product I make that can help them feel better etc. I create crochet items/patterns, I provide virtual yoga classes, I also provide natural herbal products for skin, hair, and teas. I help to solve mental/emotional problems with yoga, I help to solve skin health, hair health, and even physical health with different natural products. I’m most proud of my progress and the clients I’ve helped over the years for believing in me and trusting me to help them with what they need. They were the ones who inspired me to create my business because even before I started I was that go to person for many different needs. I want my followers, and potential clients to know that I’m very dedicated to helping them with whatever they need and my brand/work will represent love and healing. I don’t look at my clients as just another sale, I look at them as an individual and I cater my services and products individually to each person as they need. Love goes into every service I offer. This world needs more of that and I aim for my clients to feel love, hope, and confidence when they support me.
(Creating healing copper jewelry is a deeply fulfilling process that merges artistry with wellness. Copper, known for its healing properties, is believed to enhance the body’s natural healing process, alleviate pain, and boost energy levels. When combined with crystals, the jewelry takes on additional layers of healing. Crystals like rose quartz, amethyst, and clear quartz are reputed for their ability to promote emotional balance, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity. Wearing these custom pieces not only provides aesthetic pleasure but also serves as a constant source of positive energy, helping to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit. Each piece of jewelry is crafted with the intention of fostering physical healing and mental well-being, offering a beautiful and meaningful way to incorporate holistic health into daily life.)
(Teaching yoga for emotional and physical wellness has been a deeply rewarding journey for me. I started teaching to share the practices that have brought me peace and strength, hoping to help others discover the same benefits. Through yoga, I aim to create a supportive space where individuals can nurture their mental well-being and improve their physical health. It’s my passion to guide others towards a balanced and fulfilling life.)
(Creating natural products is a passion that allows me to harness the healing power of nature. From skin care to overall health and emotional well-being, my products are crafted with love and intention. Using ingredients sourced from the earth, I strive to provide natural solutions that nurture the body and soothe the soul, promoting holistic healing and wellness.)
Starting my business over this past year has been an exciting journey of rebuilding and rediscovering my passion. I’ve always loved creating beautiful gifts, making healing products, and teaching healing techniques with yoga. Even as a kid, I was the go-to person for advice and support, and I cherish the trust people place in me. I truly love what I do—getting paid is a bonus, but the biggest reward is seeing people thrive, heal, and light up from what I provide.
I started a yoga blog as well that gives a personal look into yoga as well as a newsletter that covers different poses and tips.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Interpersonal skills and compassion I feel is highly necessary. A lot of times there’s people who are qualified on paper however their qualifications means nothing when they don’t know how to talk to people, or even try to relate to them. Everyone is navigating their own things in life and someone who isn’t compassionate, and doesn’t really see the clients beyond money or only sees them as a number is highly discouraging. They tend to leave you feeling worse. I love to get to know my clients, if there’s anything they feel is relevant for me to know about them I want to know so that I can truly give them what they need

Have you ever had to pivot?
I’ll say this past year I had to pivot. Due to unfortunate circumstances out of my control where I was running my home business I had to start over from scratch. I’ve been in the process of rebuilding my business this year, however sometimes that’s necessary in life and most times the comeback is even greater than before. I feel great about the direction things are going. I don’t take losses as failures, because you only fail when you give up. That’s something I will never do. Success doesn’t come overnight, my determination hasn’t wavered.
